Question about buying a "New" 2011" Flash off of eBay. I wanted to start a new thread but i don't have enough posts so hopefully this thread can help.....
I am buying from a high rated seller but can't determine if he is an authorized Cannondale dealer. What kind of risk am I taking by buying this bike and possibly not getting the factory frame warranty.

I plan on having the bike inspected by a local Cannondale dealer when I get it but that still leaves me with questions about the long term.

    Your input is greatly appreciated!

    not soon.

i have no front 29er now.

only a alu project with some issues on the frame ...

so for the first time , i will transfert the components from that Zeta bike to the Flash

but this is not my project ...this is only a way to solve my dirt riding hunger

too much road in last weeks

for the project you have to wait some months , sorry

    so my bike is ready.

first : it's a "winter" cloth ...so weight is 9020 g with Garmin Edge mounting support

second : i want to hold frame in my garage for a long time , so a superlight build will be in the 2012 summer ... step by step ...

    some build reports:

    1) i machined off the lip on the 131mm spindle , i installed a triple spider with two rings 36-24T CarbonTi , using some custom carbon spacers to keep the assembly well firm.

i did the same on a 122mm spindle for a future integrated combo chainrings , i will need narrower spacers

    2) i installed a 100mm reduced to 80 mm Lefty ELO old fork , it's from 2002 ...

i love this fork : without rebound adjustement , it has a very fast travel

    3) i used Indutry Nine wheelset , i bought in may2011 , i used them in another bike , love the
    sound of their freewheel

pictures are on my blog , see signature

    just an "little" update ...

in 1 month this frame will go ....

i found a new HM frame

so when it will be at home , i am carbolifting it

    i want a naked Flash

hope to have a close to 900 g frame

sanded and with custom decals, no clearcoat will be painted on.

i found a 2012 lefty PBR too , but i am keeping the ELO in my garage , not for sale.

100 mm , to have a shorter fork ( 90mm 29er forks are 3 cm longer than it ) , to be reduced in travel to 70 or 80mm , to verify tyre clearance

some new light parts will be added .

especially in the crankset and seating zone .

other parts will be transferred , simply ...

today i am at 8670 g with this bike

yay, i look forward to seeing the results! the white paint is a ***** to get off by the way - it's also pigment heavy removing it will get the weight right down. good luck i am sure you'll have fun doing it.

Why do you want to use a RED derailleur? Well, obviously weight but a lot of cross guys downgrade the titanium cage to steel for better shifting.

    Yeah, I do that a lot. :P

but the Red derailleur isn't supposed to shift that great. I know cross guys downgrade the cage to steel. I wonder if the Super X front derailleur is a standard cage or has the pro downgrade. Hmmmm...

i am not escaping ... i am not in a hurry ... i am not in the gold rush ...

i suppose to have a 0.0013 second lost in the shifting of my chainrings ...

    Cross guys are weird!

I know cause I am one! I run a Shimano Dura-Ace 10 Speed rear derailuer with a SRAM 9 Speed Cassette (11-28) and Campi 10Sp Chorus Shifters!

Why? Cause I can't stand double tap and I love the Campi Thumb shift. You'd be surprised how many guys are running this set-up. Does it work? Hell yeah, the Campi throw is just right to match up with a 9Spd when matched to a Dura-Ace...

Like I said, you have to be wierd to race cross!

not too sure, looks interesting though.

when i stripped my 2011 red/white flash. the white was thick in some areas 3-4mm and in many layers probably to smooth out all the lumps and bumps. in all the frame was 90 plus grams lighter once finished.

it's currently matt black awaiting inspiration.

    ... uhm ... however i started to sand ...

not a good season here , with snow coming next days , to start a work with carbolift

it did not work with OAT 10 degress C ... so gone with sanding paper

i lost only 20 grams till now ... i think to do the 55-60% of the work

I don't get it. Why did to turn Cannondale into a Chinese carbon 29er (sure both are made there but you could save some $ and buy direct).
Do you shave tires, brake pads, cut seatpost, trim handlebars ... to save few grams?

fortunately , China spy copiers are still not able to do a Lefty steerer tube and a DM front derailleur mounting ...

    i already have a LTK023 raw BB30 , but it's 1270 g not 951 g as my Flash HM at this point of sanding

i will do all what you can imagine to save weight ...

please wait until work is finished to do some criticisms ...

to build an house , you start from the pavement , than roof ... but still not the walls

so at that point i can assume it will be a cold house with no walls ...

so going to stop houses building

in summer , when OAT is 30° C degress , Carbolift will help me ...

( just for istance, this picture was done with the sun at 3 pm but at -2 ° C OAT )
