How do I make my front tire into 29 inch from 26 inch?

    OK so a few things

    1. Is a 26inch in the back with 29inch in the front a 69er or a 96er?
    2. What must be done to make the front a 29inch tire (I would like a fork with at least 80mm shocks and a Quick Locking System as well)
    3. How much will it cost (I don't nessicarly want top of the line parts, but decent parts that will last and won't break on me)
    4. Can I do it my self? Or is it better to have a mechanic do it? I am pretty good with building and putting stuff together and seeing how it needs to be put on and done.

    Thanks

You need a fork that can accept 29" rims ($300-700)..and yes its as easy as swapping crown races and swapping forks. RS Reba is the most popular.

New fork to suit a 29" wheel.

New rim, with the correct amount of spoke holes to match your existing hub, if you want to reuse that. New spokes and a wheel build. It might be easier and cheaper to just buy a new 29" front wheel, complete.

    New 29" tyre.
