How to asseble races and bearings on lefty, Mendon

    Hi

I would like to know the most efficient wat to assemble races and bearings on a lefty.

Last time I did the following:

Install Outer races using grease and diggler tool, install ring to keep then in place
Install Bearings in upper shaft, stick them on the outer reaces using grease
Install inner reaces on lower shaft but let them stickout 2 inch.
Move inner shaft into outer shaft, because the indner races stick out it goes easy and the bearings are not damaged.
    Compress fork completely
Using a srewdriver or wooden stick, push down the inner races untill they are in place
Try to extend the fork completely
    Install circlip using diggler tool
    Install cartridge
Assemble the rest of the fork

Is that the good way to do it or is there a better way?

Install Outer races using diggler tool to hold them in place, grease lightly.

Install inner races on lower shaft, use electrical tape at bottom to hold them there, grease lightly. Put boot, outer steerer lock cap and outer race retainer ring on, in that order.

Install Bearings, lightly greased, use a rubber band to hold them in place on the inner leg, at the top. 11 bearings should be above the top of the leg, 11 below.

Carefully mate inner shaft into outer shaft, taking care to align the outer correctly, so you don't have to take it apart again, and rotate 45 degrees, etc, (oops!)

Compress fork halfway, so bearings dissapper, remove E tape from inner leg.
Install outer race retainer clip, then outer leg lock cap, use a bit of blue Loctite on threads.

    Install circlip using diggler tool

    Install cartridge

Assemble the rest of the fork

    Happy trails
