    Help me choose a Prophet!

    Hi

    I can't decide between two bikes -

    Prophet X 2008 - 2049
    http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/08/ce/model-8VE1X.html

    Prophet 2 2008 - 1399
    http://gb.cannondale.com/bikes/08/ce/model-8VE2.html

With the spec on the Prophet 2, I would be keen to upgrade a few parts (wheels, cranks) but the Prophet X seems about perfect spec. You guys reckon the spec on the Prophet X is worth the difference?

Anyone know the weight of these bikes?

Bikes will be used for aggressive trail riding and light freeriding.

    Thank you!

I'd decide on the basis of the frame. Do you want the ISCG frame and 2 ring set up?
Put another way is this bike to replace your Gemini or to use as a do it all trail bike alongside it? Only you know how hard you are going to ride the bike. Have fun with your choice.

Both are great bikes, however they classify two different riders. Based on your clause that the "bike will be used for aggressive trail riding and light freeriding," I'd vote for the Prophet X. The call is close, however the Prophet X affords you slacker geometry and longer travel. I see the Prophet 2 as a standard Prophet with a non-Lefty fork; the Prophet X is an all together different ride! I love my Prophet MX...I am charging harder and going bigger than I ever dreamed I would. I see the Prophet 2 as a better trail bike than a freeride bike. With the Prophet X, you have nothing to gain but greater versatility.

Silly question, however can you get the Prophet X with a TALAS, not a FLOAT?

If you're planning on doing freeride i'd go with the X. I love my prophet and would've bought a mx if my lbs had one in stock. I push the limits of the standard prophet wish i had an mx but no worries.Either one won't dissapoint. As far as the $ the X is a fantastic value for its capability!!! You'd spend more time and money and still not have the isgc mounts if you went to upgrade the std prophet. The X would be my choice, hands down.
