    HELP - Cracked Jekyll

I just discovered a crack where the bottom of the split seat post connects to the downtube/bottom bracket.

    1) Will Cannondale warranty this? It's a 2003 Jekyll
    2) Can it be welded?
    3) How much would I be paying for a Rush frame with the Cannondale exchange program.

I'll try to get a couple of pictures attached.

    Thanks,

You should be okay. Bring it to your closet C'dale dealer the way it is (assembled) and they'll hold it for a rep to check out. No need to worry....

My 2003 Jekyll cracked at the same spot last year. I brought it back at my LBS( Bicyclettes Montréal-Nord) in November and since January 4th 08 I'am the owner of a Rush SL.. It cost me $200, for a Fox RP23. THIS IS life time warranty.

If you are the original owner of the bike it is covered under warranty. Take it in to your LBS.

As long as you are the original owner, you are in good shape. Cannondale is excellent when it comes to warranty issues like the crack you have.

Wash your bike, get it cleaned up and bring it in.

This time of year, you should be able to get a new frame quickly. The only thing you will need to pay out of pocket for is the labor cost to switch the parts over and maybe some odds and ends like new cables.

My 2000 Jekyll had a comparable crack. Not exactly in the same place.
I brought it to another dealer than where I bought it. I got a Prophet SL frame in return. I only paid for the working hours and a front derailler. The RP3 shock didn't cost me a penny!

sell your swingarm to an UberVee owner!

You might sell your swingarm to an Uber-ista.

    Good luck.

Doubt they'll build you a new one, time to stop riding it if it concerns you. You'd get treated like any other busted Jekyll customer.

    Followup

Amazingly enough, I found the original invoice and warranty card, took it to Slippery Pig in Phoenix, and I should have a new Rush frame within 3 weeks. The shock I get will depend on how the Jekyll 800 compares to the offerings on the Rush line-up. I even get my choice of colors (Racing Red).

I'll post pics when I get it back.

Thanks for all the good advice. It pays to own a Cannondale.

Glad to hear everything is working out. If you run into complications regarding delivery date, you can email cannondale directly and they will tell you the exact date your frame will be shipped.

In my case, they had to actually build a frame and that took some time. About 8 weeks. I too have the racing red frame, in an 08 caffeine hardtail. Nice color.

    Don't know yet

I'm more than three weeks in and don't have my replacement yet. Last week I called and was told that Cannondale is slow replacing out-of-production models.

I'll post up when the transaction is complete and let you know how it went. I hope it's soon, 'cause it's tough not riding during the best time of the year, but my old Mongoose Rockadile is slowly beating me to death.
