    Headshok Lockout Revisited

I emailed the Cannondale tech line and got the following response:

All Headshok cartridges use a wiper seal system the cartridges are not
pressurized. Running them locked out for extended periods of time will cause
    the seals to leak.

The lockout feature is designed to avoid bobbing when you are climbing. It
is not meant as a conversion to a rigid mountain bike.

    that makes sense

I think Cannondale is fence sitting a bit to protect themselves if anything goes wrong

how long is an extended period??

I have run mine locked out for 4hr + road rides and then riden the next day off road lock off for over 6 years and no problems there
