    Headshok Fatty Ultra DL question

When I air up my Headshok Fatty Ultra DL to about 170 lbs I detach the pump and then reattach the pump to check the pressure, everytime I check it it reads 150lbs. I'm using a Wrench force pump, does anyone use the Cannondale suspension pump and/or does anyone know if it has a quick release to prevent air loss from the suspension when detaching the pump ?

    You are doing it right.

When you take off the pump, the air that you hear escaping is supposed to be from the pump, and not the shock. When you re-attach the pump, it is using 20-25psi to fill the barrel and get a reading.

In addition to what others wrote...Some of the pressure that is lost is in the shock hose. Hence most "good" shock pumps have very short hoses.

    Loose inlet valve???

Check the air inlet valve and make sure it isn't sticking out to far of the inlet nozzle. It should be recessed in the intlet nozzle. Sometimes this will cause the pump to allow air to escape when removing it. Us an inlet valve tool and turn it in (tighten) a little. 20-25lbs is a normal loss when re-attaching the pump like Damion stated.
