    Makes me wonder...

Good Boys were not cheap. Why pay the big bucks then do that unless he got it cheap, second hand, or maybe someone wanted all the polished Shimano bits and he made some bucks selling them.

His front and rear mechs are NORMAL XTR anyway........

Looks to me like hes just got a GB small frame....And built it up.......

The frame must have been stripped for parts as they or the pollished XTR wernt available seperatly.........

So how can he sell this as a GB Bike is beyond me........................

What's the deal with that thing? No carbon Lefty, and it says 3000 on the top tube. Will the real Goodboy please stand up?

Actually, that ebarf one is, the numbers on the TT say it all, hard to see, but I know where I'm looking, and what for Ball burnish? Hard to remove? Huh? All that is is polished aluminum, referred to as ball burnished, nothing to be removed, it's just aluminum. Are you thinking of the Galanized finish?

well, i guess a grinder and brass brush would make it look like that, but the numbers on the TT could be a decal put on after... but you never know on ebay.

Anything's possible, and there are an endless number of morons out there, but spending $$ on custom stickers, in the right font, to put them on a bike, that any afficionado would never call a Good Boy any more, just seems like too much hassle, maybe I'm nuts though. So, I'm confused, which finish, on which bike, are you referring to, the BB is just a polish, is the ebay one scratched up, thus the brass brush? Just wondering....

The Goodboy used a standard 3000 frame...its the WHOLE bike that makes it a GB..............and the TT is numbered to denote this.....

    Mine is # 17.....................

no, i was talking about a grinder with a brass wheel, for taking the shine down. i thought the good boys was like a high shine polish, almost like a chrome? ive never seen one in reality.

To keep the shine you need to keep pollishing it up...Its raw allumimium......it will go dull otherwise lke brass or coins do if you dont buff it..............The BB...is a surface treatment simmilar to sand blasting but ueses steel balls that blast the ali to a shime......

I've got a 3000 BB and the finish does dull a bit over time, and with handling, but you can bring the shine back easily with a polish like autosol.

Hey Broomhandle, okay, now I get it. Yes, the ball burnished, as others have said, is just a high polish, over time, it will dull. I use Simichrome, a cloth, and the old, "shoeshine" motion, to bring it back to a silly mirror like finish. I had a 3000 before my GB, the finish was identical. Wish they'd do it again, but I do like the Galvanized too......
