    Gemini floating brake question(I think..)

    I just got a 2005 Gemini 900(woo-hoo)& wondered about the two small holes on the seat tube, just above the BB. Is this for the floating brake arm of the DH models, & if so could I make mine a floater?

    no no no floating on normal gemini! the holes are for the e.type f-derailleur!

    I think he is talking about the holes up higher on the seat tube. That hole is not for a deraileur.

    sorry but i had a gemini and a gemini dh. At this time i have a judge with flo-brake and a prophet that have the holes like the old gemini. So i repeat this hole is in the right side for bolting the e.type derailleur because you need to stop if you don't want to see this stuff rotate. The support on the gemini dh and the judge are much bigger.

    After reading his post again I see that he is probably refering to the chain guide mount holes (ISCG) .

    I thought he was talking about the single hole on the left just above the bottom bracket. This hole on the left would lead you to think it could possibly accept a floating brake arm.

    I have both the regular Gemini and Judge. Yes there is a hole on the Gemini that can be mistaken for a floater mount.

    There are aftermarket floaters available but if you ask me it's not worth it for the Gemini for the cost you have to pay.

    On the other hand it's worth for a full blown DH machine like the Judge. The Judge is a rocket compared to the Gemini. I've had various injuries including bruised ribs in only 3 weeks since I been riding the Judge. This bike is way too fast for me handle.

    I've got a Prophet

    I was in my lbs the other day picking my prophet up after the frame was relaced under warranty (see Prophet shock mount failure thread) and happend to ask about the hole on the left hand side and was told that the prophet uses the same seat tube as the gemini and that they believed that there had origianly been some intention (or at least planning not to preclude the option) of producing a prophet with a floater - not sure about a prohet with a floater but I can understand that they would use the same tubing.

    As far as I am aware a regular gemini cannot be converted to run with a factory flater because the DH version had a 150 spaced swing arm to accomodate the flater while the regular models were 135.
