    FSA BB30 vs SRAM XX

    Morning All,

I would like to upgrade my Taurine BB30 from 3 x 9 to 2 x9 - no problem but I would like a few different options than 29/44 T. My question is does the new SRAM XX chainwheels and spider fit - I like the different chainwheel teeth options. Otherwise are there any other readily available options out there?

    Thanks.

Unless you're going to run a full XX drivetrain, I would stay away from the XX crank. FSA makes 2x9 cranksets in 29/42, 29/44. 27/42, and 27/40. Is that enough gearing options?

Why stay away from the XX? It will shift better than the FSA, is cheaper than the FSA and I would expect more ring choices for XX than the proprietary 3 bolt FSA... FSA options are really overpriced IMO.

As for what XX crank to use, check the fit guide on the XX crank product page but I haven't seen anything regarding the BB shell width though, the GXP are compatible with 68 and 73 shells but I don't know about the BB30.

It's the Q-factor, the width of the crankset. It's the measure in mm, the lateral distance from where the pedals go, outside of the arms... Again, check at the end of the fit guide I put a link to above, toward the end of the pdf...

    Maybe not low enough?

    XX has 26/39, 28/42

I also read somewhere about a third set of rings slightly taller, like 29/44, but I can't find it anymore.

<-----26/39 for myself........although it's still sitting in the box.
