    FSA 386 SL-K Chain suck - SUCKS !!!

    2011 Flash Carbon 2 29'er - brand new.
Got the bike about a week ago - great bike, Iove it.

3 hard rides - no problems, I thought that I am immune to the dreaded chain suck.

    Not !!!

Rode today a technical section, 1:30 hrs into the ride, when I am about to complete the loop, I was descending a switchback at a very low speed I heard "cluck" and my crank froze.
Good thing I was at low speed, so I was able to stop without putting any additional pressure on the frozen crank.
I tried to disengage the suck, but to no avail...
I had to walk back to the car - not too bad maybe 1/2 a mile in the shade.
When I get home, from some reason -maybe due to the vibration of the bike on the carrier, I was able to free the tangle by rotating the crank arm backward.
Luckily I had a Lizard skin chain-stay protector, pushed all the way to the crank so no damage to the paint.
(In case you wondered regarding the ugly crank arms: they are also covered with black electrical tape and crank boots)

So I would like to get your advise on how to resolve this issue with the LBS.
AFAIK, this is 1 known and reported defect and unless there is a proven solution, via spacers or modified FD etc, I believe that I am entitled to get a replacement working crank.

What crank is same or better as far s performance/eight/price ?
SRAM XX, XO or 2210 like 2012 Flash 1&2 ?

How do I need to approach the LBS ?

    TIA

Lots of info here: Flash Carbon 29er 2 Front shifting issues

It's a known problem with this crankset.

Reviving an old thread I started...

Every once in a while I am getting a chains suck. Last time I had to break the chain in order to untie the mess.
Last night I got it in the middle of nowhere and Luckily I was able to release it with no tools, otherwise I would have to walk my bike back home for 2 hours or so.
Hate to be in that position

BTW, the chain suck is differnet than what I am showing above, unfortunately no pictures

I have the XO cranks, XX FD and XX chain rings and chain.
The only original component that was newer replaced is the X9 long cage RD. (and the x9 shifters)
Is it the root cause for the random chains sucks ?

If it is I would like your opinion regarding a a replacement:
    1. for F39/26 R11-32 what cage length ? Long or Medium
    2. RD type 1 or 2 ?
    3. which RD X9, X0 or XX - will all work with the x9 shifters ?

    XX1 or XX0
No FD and you get rid of those cranks forever. Look at the E.Thirteen race set up for BB30.
Lead by my Lefty............... right down the trail, no brakes.

    Thanks
I knew someone will suggest to go 1x11, but that's not an option for this bike.
In general I like the 2x10 setup.
Just need to get rid of the Chain-suck once and for all.
