Front derailleur hitting pivot 2002 Jekyll

I've got a 2002 Cannondale Jekyll that I've upgraded to a Shimano XT crank (M752).

I'm using a68 x 113 Es51 bb as recommended by Shimano. Recently the bb started creaking so I took it out, re-greased beneath the non-drive side cup, and put it back in cranking both sides down tightly.

Now, when I shift into the small chainring the chain rubs against the inner side of the front derailleur. This is the case even when I move the derreilleur as far inward as possible. Right now I've got it in so far that it's touching the pivot point.

Any advice? Anybody else had this problem. I"m thinking about switching to a 68 x 113 bb.

If I'm not mistaken the E in Es51 is for E-type where the front derailleur is attached to a plate that is under the bottom bracket cup on the drive side. The cup sticks out about 2mm or so to accomodate the plate. You want a standard non-E bottom bracket.
