    Flash Carbon 3 owners: change the wheels out?

    Specifially the wheelset since every new bike in my price range has had the usual heavy wheelset (my 2011 Anthem X1 has a useless non-tubeless 1950 gram and that's a 26" set).

    Looking at the specs online it seems to have everything I want. Mix of X7 and X9 2x10, but I'm new to Cdale and the wheelset was the main question to factor into pricing if I had to upgrade.

    Addendum: Just found the 1 review at Cannondale Flash Carbon 29er 3 29er Hardtail Reviews and indeed the stock wheels are the usual heavy pigs.

    I bought a Flash 29er Carbon 3 recently and built up new wheels for it (Actually I changed everything except the frame and fork). I weighed all the wheel components, so this should give you a good idea of the potential saving:-

    Stock Front Wheel = 903g (Sun Ringle EQ25 Rim / DT Comps / Brass Nips / Stock Lefty Hub)
    Stock Rear Wheel = 1182g (Sun Ringle EQ25 Rim / DT Comps / Brass Nips / Sram x9 Hub)
    Total = 2043g

    New Front Wheel = 661g (StansCrest / DT Revs / Ali Nips / Stock Lefty Hub)
    New Rear Wheel = 830g (Stans Crest / DT Revs / Ali Nips / DT 240s Hub)
    Total = 1491g

    Total Saving = 552g (1.2 lbs)

    btw: I sold the stock wheels "as new" (front one was in bits as I kept the lefty hub) and that helped fund the new ones.

    On my Flash I wnet into it knowing I'd ditch the wheelset on day one since I want to run tubeless and I have had such great experience with the durability and esae of setting up stans wheels (plus the Crest model is pretty light). So, I'd do the same for your bike as well.

    I recently built up a set of Crests for my Flash.

    Front: ZTR Crest/Lefty Hub/DT SuperComp/Alu Nips - 690g
    Rear: ZTR Crest/WTB Laserdisc/DT SuperComp/Alu Nips - 840g
    Total of 1530g
