i have been thinking of getting an f600 but i want a hardtail that can take some abuse. i talked to the shop owner and he said its an all mountain bike and should be able to handle mostly everything i throw at it. i ride a lot of rick, rooty trails with drop offs no more than 5 feet on occasion. would this bike work out well for me?

I have been riding one for about a year and have not had any problems. I did upgrade the crank and wheel to a lighter set. I do all that you mentioned except the drops. In my opinion this would not be the best bike for 5 foot drops. Not just because of strength issues but for design issues. This bike doesn't seem like it sits right for this type of riding. It is more of a cross country design in my opinion.
