New question here. F29 carbon 3 1x set up

Has anyone gone to a 1X setup with the stock crank on the 2013 f29 C3?
Just curious what ring you went with and did you adjust the chain line?

Personally I think the best solution is to get one of the spiderless chainrings, something like the one from Wolftooth Components maybe. It's for GXP, but maybe it'll work for BB30 cranks as well (it will change the chainline though).

I'd like to go 1x10 myself, but I think I'll get a an XX1 spider for my S2210 crankset. Seems like the best solution.

I have the S1000 double crankset that has the spider build into the crank arm. After looking at Race face and Wolftooth They do not appear to be offset. I think I need to off set about 2 mm. I know someone has already been through this, so I need help!

Bringing this one back from the grave because I just got the same bike, with the same crank, and I have the same question.

Anyone with some input? I'm looking at the Race Face narrow/wide 30T. Will it bolt right up to the S1000 crank without any issues? Bolt size? I think the chart says 8.5mm but I can't find anything but 6mm and 10mm...no 8.5mm.

    Hi,
    I have a F29 Carbon 3 from 2014.
I upgraded to XX1 by using the standards sram s1400 crank.
I removed the spider, and replaced with the Wolftooth GXP (long spindle) 32T direct mount chainring.

works fine, chain line is perfect.

I don't have the S1400 though. Just the S1000 which doesn't have a removable spider. I have an X9 crank set that does but it's a GXP setup and the F29 is a PF30. If Praxis comes out with the SRAM adapter that might be an option but no idea when that will be out. It would probably be just as cheap though to pick up a S1000 crank though. I see them all over fleabay for <$100.

I just finished converting to a 1x setup on my F29 Carbon 3 last night.. everything is stock except the Race Face 32t NW Chain Ring and the Wolftooth 42t big cog extender for Sram.. added 3 links on the 10 speed chain and shifting seems smoother now.. hope this helps! WOW, this is an old one!

I forgot about this post. I am using a wolftooth chain ring 32T and I did space the the ring inboard about 1mm for a better chain line. I love the set up!. I am going to the 42 tooth cassette when I replace the drive components. I will probably bump up to a 34 or maybe a 36 chain ring. I don't really notice the rear D switch being on or off.

I ended up getting a RaceFace Narrow-Wide 30T. Just bolted it on and it's good to go. Still running the stock rear. Haven't ridden it much to see if I'll need to bump up to a 40/42T rear. I do love the 1x though.
