Has anyone else encountered something similar?

Not that it should matter but wondering if you and the other guy with the same defect were using the Save seatpost or something else?

I am using the SAVE seat post. I'm almost positive the other guy is too.

Interesting. My 2012 F29 Carbon 2 frame had the exact same thing using the SAVE seatpost. I got the frame warrantied and am now on a 2013 model and have had no problems at all at this point.

I see. Well, actually I've been told that there's a replacement frame waiting for me. Only problem is, it's in the wrong color. 1) I prefer the red/white/blue, which is why I bought that colorway to begin with. 2) If I am forced to take the team-colored frame, my fork won't match, even if I get new stickers. My fork has white clamps, the fork on the team bike has black clamps

Like I said on the other forum, same issue as marsbar, I received the wrong color frame, the explanation is that for warranty Cannondale offers only this color ! WTF ? Nothing match with this frame color.

Yes, it's stupid. I'll talk to Cannondale tomorrow. We'll see what happens.

Did you get an answer? After I refused the frame and instructed my local dealer to inform Cannondale about this, they replied that there nothing else to do. Now I'm waiting an official response in english and I very keen to start a whole negative campaign against Cannondale.

No answer yet, the guy says hopefully he'll have an answer for me tomorrow. I'm really hoping I can get a matching fork with the frame.

my frame hasn't got a warranty as i bought it used. i was sure that the crack on my seat tube was just a paint crack, but i thought i'd check anyway, so i stripped that area. the carbon was 100%, spot on, perfect.

regarding your replacement frames, c'dale can only give you what they have, at least you both have frames waiting for you. my last warranty took over 8 months.

In case I wasn't clear in previous posts, unlike the OP, I'm completely happy with my warranty replacement frame. I had great customer service from both the LBS and C-Dale and I received it within a few weeks. Like you, I suspected the crack was more of a cosmetic issue rather than a failure of the carbon, but it shouldn't have happened regardless. For me, the LBS and C-Dale made it right and I'd definitely buy another bike from them.

Hopefully others can confirm that it is only paint. I'm a worried F29 2 2012 owner. I bought mine used as well. I'm almost thinking I should wrapping the area to relieve stress. I don't want mine cracking.
Has Cannondale said what is causing this?

Here's a photo of the inside of the seat tube. The dark "spot" is at exactly the same height as the cracked paint on the outside. So I'm guessing it's not just superficial.

Can you guys give me some measurements on the your cracks. Are they all in the same place? How high down the tube are they? Do they coincide with where your seat post was inserted?
I'm going the prevent route, even if it means adding an ugly wrap.

Well, since the original Poster is located in Europe, the bike being only a month old, just tell the shop you want your money back as this bike is clearly defective!
Under current European warranty law you have every right to do so!
Tell cannondale to go F*&! themselves and have the shop deal with them after they refunded you the purchase price.

It had one month when the defect was communicated, now it has 2 months, so I don't think is anything I can do now..

On my frame its about 11-12 cm from the top of the seat tube. It does not coincide with how much seatpost is inserted in the frame. I'd guess there's maybe 20 cm inserted in the frame.

I've noticed the cannondale white paint has a tendency to crack it seems, like not enough flex to the paint. I'm currently watching a crack on my EVO, but i think its just the white paint moved too much and cracked, the bike still rides fine. I'd be interested to know if anyone out there has a flat black (bbq) color bike with cracks like this. As the white and red paints seem thicker and more prone to cracking.

So is this confirmed as a crack? My NEW 2012 (replacement frame for cracked alloy) is starting to show the same crack with the "wet"looking spot inside. Cant say I'm thrilled about it after dropping more money then I wanted to replace the alloy in time for a trip (over 2 months of waiting on the alloy)

Yes, Cannondale has acknowledged it from day one. Can you post a picture of the crack in your frame?

Just to clarify, Cannondale has been great in this matter, the big problem is the LBS I bought it at.

It is in the early stages, I am still hoping it is a scratch!

It does match up to where the bottom of my seat post sits.

I was thinking of mabye smoothing out the bottom of my seat post (sanding the very bottom front part) It might reduce the amount of stress pushing on the front of the seat tube. I dont want this to happen with the next frame.
