Ever since the first ride of my F29, I have noticed an annoying sound coming from my 80mm converted SL Lefty. It occurs with any, even slight, undulation in the trail and happens throughout the entire ride. It sounds a little like a cable housing hitting the frame, but that wasn't it. I partially disassembled the Lefty, checked to make sure the damper was tight and that all bolts were tightened to spec'd torque. All OK. The sound is very easily elicited. I chased the noise around for an hour....when, I finally turned the bike upside down.....and there it was.
I turned the bike upright....and there it was again, upside down, upright, upside down.....the noise was consistent.
Then I figured it out.....those damn plastic travel spacers are sliding up and down the piston shaft and hitting each other making the noise.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Is there an easy fix? (Mendon?)
