    Carbon Lefty

    Hey guys,
I was wondering if you can purchase the lefty forks straight from cannondale or do they only put them on their bikes?? If you can buy them do I just go to an authorized dealer? Thanks

You can purchase them from a Cannondale dealer, but they aint cheap. I have known a few to buy the lowest end bike they can with a Lefty, swap the Lefty for a used fork and then sell the bike it can be cheaper that way.

Yes they can be ordered from any Cannondale retailer, but call your bank first, they are very expensive when bought alone...

Yes you can. Cannondale are doing a trade-in deal where you can get 30% off if you trade-in ANY fork. Which is exactly what I have done to get my carbon Lefty.

Be quick though the deal runs out on the 15th of this month.

The deal ends? I thought it was available all year long, it has been for many years... But even with the trade-in program, they are still very expensive.

From the Cannondale site on this side of the pond

'How does it work? Customers will need to physically trade in their fork to get a great offer on a Headshok fork at the local participating dealer.

This program is valid from the 15th of April to the 15th of August, 2007. '

Haaaa, UK.... This side of the pond, the deal has existed non-stop for years... I'm not sure if it's a flat rate of 30% off on any Lefty or Headshok with any fork you bring in though...

I beg to differ Dan. The deal in the UK is exactly that. Any fork against any Lefty/Headshok 30 % off.

I checked several times with several dealers to be sure.

I was not implying you were wrong but rather wondering if it was like that for us in north america...

Another option that some have taken advantage of if you live in the US, is to find a old Cdale bike with a Fatty and trade it in on a new Lefty..........

If your Dealer works with the c'dale rep you pay Wayyyy less than advertised. I traded in my "defective" Lefty Max FFD for a Lefty Max Carbon SPV. I paid only $100.- Even the Folks at the shop were blown away that the rep actually did this. If you have a fairly new HeadShok Fork, no matter if it is a Lefty or not they work with you if you want to upgrade it! But again, I guess this is like with HeadShok repairs... if your retailer sux, you'll have issues replacing your fork.
Talk to your shop people and let us know what they said.

The RLC will be carbon, no idea about it's weight though... I expect it to be heavier than the SL, closer the old Speed Carbon DLR2 but don't quote me on that one.

If that is the case then the prices have come down quite a bit, I believe the MSRP on my Carbon SL was around $1400.
The RLC should be the ticket for those who are slightly less weight conscious as I have always loved the Fox damping system and adjustable compression damping.

I don't know if they are official prices, someone else posted them in the 2008 Info or the 2008 Scalpel thread.

Fortunaltely I havent received or paid for it yet.

I will be asking about this today when I see them.

    God bless Mtbr.Forum!!

Wish me luck as I doubt that they will find this applicable to an Australian buyer! We get nothing here and when we do, the rest of the world is onto something else thats good.
