New question here. Cannondale Trail vs Trail SL frames

I've been looking all over trying to figure out how exactly these frames differ and all I can see is that the head tube diameter is different. Are there any other structural differences between the two, anything significant? Or does it all come down to the fact that you cannot fit a Fatty fork onto a regular Trail frame?

Also, if anyone has any info regarding the specific weights of these frames, that would be super useful too!

Nope, there is also a Trail (non-SL) line, but only Trail 7/6/5 with low-end Shimano parts. These frames come with a standard 1 1/8 headtube instead of Cannondale's trademark 1.5 headtube, but I'm trying to figure out if the frame differences go beyond that.

Ahhh, thanks a lot! This is precisely the information I was hoping for

I guess that explains the price premium for the SL frames much better than the marginal upgrade in components.

Trail SL has a slightly different geometry. They are 200-230 grams lighter (depneding on the size) than the Trail frames, bigger head tubes. The trails are built at a cheaper China factory and the SL are built at a Taiwan factory Not sure if QC is better in Taiwan or not. Most of the other difference are going to be component builds.

    Hope that helps

It sure does, thank you! I'm certainly finding the upgrade to a SL frame more justified if I'm going to upgrade the parts and turn it into an XC machine later on
