    Cannondale Rush 2008 New Swingarm?

Does anyone have some information about the new Rush Swingarm?
I was told by my C-Dale dealer that it was gonna drop more than 100 grs!

I dont know about the weight savings of the swingarm, but the aluminum Rush swingarms will have the stay bridge like the carbon Rush

It seems that there is a new swingarm that hasn't been released yet and that is gonna be lighter than the actual one.

A carbon swingarm...that would be sweet! But maybe a little bit too expensive for C-dale (and for us! )

I finally saw the Cdale promo video for the 2008 Rush that comes with the new swingarm. It looks just like the 2007 one but it was deeply shaved in less stressed areas dropping around 190grs, no bad !

I saw it at my local Cdale store. The owner just returned from Cdale headquarters this week with all the information about the 2008 line and brought the video.

Probably a little flexier like the SL compared to the DLR2 Lefty. Won't be for everyone(the heavier ones that is). I met a CD team mechanic who rode a Carbon Rush with a DLR2 outer with an SL damper because it is stiffer, but still lighter that the DLR2.
Still I am at the weight limit for the SL and although I notice the flex, it is waaaaaay better than a SID.
Sign me up for the new Swingarm
If it really is almost a half a pound lighter WOOOW !!! I could have an XL for under 5-1/2 lbs.
Still probably stiffer than the Scott Spark. That thing is friggin' Light as hell and with 5" of travel. Those things will be breaking all over the place. Mark my words
By the way - what video are you talkin' bout?

My semi local CD bike dealer lives in El Paso, Texas and I know he didn't go to Cdale headquarters (not a lot of Cdale riders in the area with the Lefty and all)
Do me a favor and ask your dealer if he can get me some. Tell him I'm an addict
Would sure like to see that video

Hey yogiprophet, is there a weight limit for the Carbon SL fork or why do you mention that? I'm right at 185lbs and can feel some flex on my AL Rush & SL fork when things get aggressive, so I guess this new swingarm is a no go for me.

In fact I wanted to get the older Carbon DLR2 for that reason but Cdale didn't make them this year, so I got the SL instead. But I agree, it's way better than comparable forks out there.

Weight Limit for the Lefty SL

Cdale does not mention a weight limit for the SL, but the very nice tech guy, Ted, did mention to me that they are not for people over 200lbs. Someone over 200lbs. can ride one, but they would be much better off with the DLR2 structure.
All the strength and stiffness graphs of all the leftys are on the www.cannondale.com website. Just press GoLefty or something like that, and it will take you to the Lefty webpage.
By the way, I am about 185lbs. too, but with all my gear probably about 200lbs.
I do think the swingarm would work for us, but it would not make as much a difference as lightening the front of the bike. My riding style is such as I manuver the front end around a lot and a lighter front end save me more energy overall.
The rear is already a little flexy for me, but very tolerable. Am very curious as to the new design - wonder if they changed the swingarm bridge. As an engineering/physicist type, I think the bridge could be greatly improved. Seems like a waste of time and material for very little gain. The swingarm itself is already a beautiful peice of work.
It does look a little beefy compared to other cross country bikes.
It is only because I use the Rush to race that I am interested in being as light as possible. However, sometimes something too light can degrade performance and not be worth it. We will see.....
