I was able to see some apparel. Glad to see they are still offering the 3 Season Plus Gloves. Probably the best gloves I have ever used except for the coldest conditions....even for warmer months.

I liked the website better when it contained a link to their archives showing older bikes as well. Was it really necessary for them to take it down? It was a nice feature to be able to look up original specs on previous bikes. I kind of feel like they did some cost savings on their new site and reduced it's appeal in my opinion.

Looks like they are adding a bike archive section.

Probably not much, it's an address that is there unofficaily, probably just to finish, fine-tune the new site online before they change the official one... I often do that, put a website in a folder with a secret name so I can check it online to finish the developpement.

Man that looks like crap on my 24" monitor! Haha, but yes very nice redesign. The 2012 bikes are gorgeous! Can't wait to get my hands on a Flash Carbon 29er 1!

    2012 Scalpel Team

The Scalpel is supposed to be a race bike , why put an AM gears on it? 39/26 with 11/36

I agree completely... what a disservice to their customer base... bad marketing in my opinion.... and what cost savings? Add a link and a small amount of storage space for an archive.

This is one reason I do not currently support their bikes and do not buy them... only their Lefties

39/26 - 11-36 are race gears for 29ers. Jarslov Kulhavy has won 5 of 7 World Cup Races on that gearing. Todd Wells won the National Championship and LT 100 on that gearing. A 39-11 top gear will go 30.5 mph @ 100 rpm with Ikon 2.2s. How much more gear do you need.? If anything, the 39/26 is a little high for the average rider or someone who rides steep mountain/high altitude terrain. The Specialized std. 38/24 chainrings are really better for those applications.

    who mentioned 29er??

my grandmother can push an 11/32 with a 29t (26 wheeler now) all day and gain an average of 5000 footies
    26t or (24t ) with a 36 cog c'mon now..

I noticed the 39/26 crankset too. They are on all 26er scalpels and all 26er flash carbons (euro spec).

    On the 29ers a 39/26 chainring combo makes sense. The wheel circumference is 10% bigger than a 26". That makes a 26t chainring on a 29er equivalent to a 29t on a 26". The 39t is actually a bigger gear on a 29er than a 42t on a 26" bike. So on a race 26" bike a 42/28 would be a more appropriate spec.

Didn't the CFR Team Riders run the 39/26 setup all year? I know that those guys are not slow.

When they use the Flash 29er yes, when they are on 26" wheels, they use the 28/42 rings.

Actually for most of the World Cups, the international pros had very modified drivetrain on their 26" Flashes. They indeed used 39/26 rings mated to heavily modified 122mm BB spindles.

Depends on the course I think...

They have modified spindles (no lip on the non-driveside, aligned with spacers on both sides) and crankarms too, machined on the inside at the pedal ends so they clear the chainstays...

Yes but I doubt if they are running it with an 11/36 cog.

At at least 4 of the World Cups they were running 39/26, here are the set ups from Dalby Forest. Of course I'm speaking of last year really, although I'm not sure much has changed except that Fontana and a few others have been using 29er's a little more.

Something is odd alright......that is not a flash carbon......I will have to keep my eyes posted the the website for the next few days to see if they fix it. I emailed C dale asking about the crazy price increase if it was correct or not.

Wrong photo. The Flash 29er 2 looks a bit like the attached picture if I recall (frame, not specs)... There are bugs to iron out in the new site.

This just shows what the local rep was telling me last week, Cannondale puts most of it's budget into engineering, not much into marketing and such stuff so they don't have a huge team just working on their website...

    Dan,

That's all very well but they do spend a lot on marketing, if multiple road and dirt racing teams aren't marketing I'm not sure what they are.

Another thing is that if you have a great team designing and developing great bikes having a poor website is doing them a disservice by not bringing attention to the work they do.

You only get so many people going to races at the weekends to see the riders / bikes in action , a lot of people do their research and "buying" on this new interweb thing, Cannondale do not always seem to grasp that.

The EUR catalog .pdf shows the silver frame as the FC1.
