The whole helmet range is posted at Bikerumor.com with weights and very good prices (not expensive at all), they're nice! The rest was already known but, keep us posted if something else or more details pops up.

Holy crap. The Flash 29er Ultimate is full XX/Hollowgrams and comes with Enve wheels, etc! Jeesh, that's nice.
I hate how they have XTR bikes but then have a junk crank and Avid brakes. The XTR crank and brakes are the best parts of the group.

    29ers in size S?

So it seems the Scalpel 29er in S is a go, and on page 67 they list the Flash 29er Alloy as being available in size S this year, but further down, under each model, they only list M, L, and XL as the available sizes. What gives?

    I want a size Small 29er Alloy!

Small 29ers is as weird as XL 26ers if you ask me... it's like a 300lbs guy wearing 32" pants or a 130lbs guy wearing 40" pants...

Here is the Scalpel 29er geometry...

I agree it just must look odd in some way. They must figure for cost cutting measures don't even bother offering it. How many people will really need a size Small in a 29'er.

Heck I have a 2011 Quick CX 3 in a Small frame with 700c tires 2hich are 28" and it looks almost out of whack bike wheels tiny frame.

just can'r decide if my new MTB will be a Titanium MOtobecane or a Carbon 29'er from Cdale

Yeah, I know. Just curious if they're re-vamping the Synapses as well. The EVO and new Slice are already known, and re-doing the Synapse as well is a big undertaking for a model year, esp. in a crappy global economy. But they did have that Synapse prototype for Paris-Roubaix.

although i love the new CFR colours... bloody glad i bought a 2011 model. spec's have come down on virtually all models and looks as though prices havent changed. big gap on the scalpel / flash ultimate is the replacement of the dt swiss xcr 1.2 wheels for crossmax slr. the "1" models last year were full XTR with crossmax slr, now they are mix of XTR, X0, crappy SRAM crank and DT Swiss wheels.

The 2011 1 models didn't have XTR brakes or cranks either. They had FSA cranks and Marta brakes.
The Flash 29er Ultimate has a awesome spec list. I wonder what that one will cost, 10 grand?

I think the SRAM crank they're using is a relabeled X.0...which is one of the best BB30 cranks available (aside from the Hollowgram Si). Avid brakes though....I don't know, especially with the revamped Shimano offerings out there.

    I'll just list the chages/upgrades.

XX drivetrain with 122mm spindle, FRM 40/27 rings and the 2011 XX/WC brakes because I likes the looks and that adjuster thing doesn't do much on the normal XX levers.

Edge/Enve tubulars, Extralite hubs with 28 Dt Swiss aeroblade spokes.

2011 Cannondale Si 120/-20 stem to get the carbon FSA bar down and carbon railed Antares saddle.

Geax Saguaro tubular tires and Crank Candy11's.

I just rode the bike on some sweet Colorado single track and it's whippy, really whippy. I mean I don't think you could get any less rigid and still call it a mountain bike. But as long as you enjoy riding hardtails (I always have), and keep it pointed straight, it's perfectly adequate for full duty XC riding. I weigh 160 lbs though, much heavier and I wonder if the front end would be stiff enough.

You mean the Di2 Ultegra, I assume... and what road bikes will they offer with it?

I'd like to see a Flash 29'er with that Ultegra Di2, wonder if there'll be a long cage variant of that RD.

I'd also like to ride one of those Slicer's once in awhile, but not enough to own one.

Shop owners haven't even seen them yet. Many are placing orders on bikes they have yet to see because they are way understocked on the bread & butter bikes (hybrids, etcs), as well as higher-end stuff. C'dale needs to get them to market ASAP or buyers will go with other brands as things are simply not available. Anxious to see them, liked the Euro mtb's before the link was pulled.

Got a Super Six Evo 2 Sram Red built up today.

14lbs 3 oz with quite a bit of headset stack and a kinda heavy wheelset, which is exactly what Cannondale claimed it to be, impressive.

The Sram Red's red accents have been done in Cannondale Green, which is really cool lookin'.

Does anybody know if the production Scalpel 29er Carbon 1 will use the new Fox Float RP23 Kashima Coated Adaptive Logic shock? The 2012 Niner Jet Carbon RDO and S-Works Epic both will have that shock.
What is the US market wheel spec. for the Scalpel 29er Carbon 1? I have seen pictures with DT 1550 and Stan's Arch wheels.

Ice Cold, you've been more than patient & I assume that nobody knows the CX Quick or Bad Boy. Saw 2012 Quick 5's & M & W's Adventure 3's @ LBS. Owner said they were orderd sight unseen & no catalogue available until end of the month for shops. Sales reps do know... keep pressing! Go for that 2012 & be persistent & a little patient, yet bark up that tree IMO!!!

because nobody can keep it in their pants. Everyone is dying to show off their new stuff. I bet everything is available online this month and by the end of August Cannondale will have a 2012 website ready to go.

I'd be interested to see the Bad Boy line up for 2012 although from what I can make out we get different models here in europe to you guys in the States. I'm toying with the idea of an Alfine 11 hub which is going to cost me the best part of £500 and would be gutted to find out there is a model in the '12 range that gives just that.

Does anyone know about 29er Flash carbon availability for 2012 please? (am probably looking at the 2 or 3) I asked at a couple of dealers here (UK) and was told "Autumn" by one and "Next Year" by another..... still a few 2011's left so wondering about going for one of those if the wait is too long...

    thanks for any info

I went to my local shop today to see about ordering a Bad Boy. He called Cannondale, they told him it would be middle of August and it would be a 2012. He is suppose to have the new catalog tomorrow(7-14) Barring any drastic changes I'm going to place my order.

2012 Bad boy should have the BB30 so should the Quick CX series no reason why the 2010 model had BB30 on the Quick Cx Ultra and the 2011 Model does not, maybe it was a bad idea to buy on their first year of Made in Taiwan. The $300 lowering in price was attractive and welcome but I would preffer Made In USA.

Now looking on Craigslist for a few 2009 2008 Made in USA Caffeine or F series. At great prices.

Re: 2012 delivery dates: Thanks guys! I made a few more enquiries here and was told around November for the UK. Didn't want to wait that long and the spec is not too different on the '12s (and I'll be upgrading a fair amount of the bits on it anyway) - a little hunting managed to snag an awesome deal on one of the last 2011 29er Flash Carbon 3's in the country. Hope it's a nice ride, as I'm buying blind with no test ride (ulp!)

Newb here, so forgive if these are silly questions. I've been looking at the Trail SL 2 29er at the LBS. It looks as if the 2012 model moves to a Rockshox Recon Silver TK fork, SRAM X5 hardware all around with the rest remaking largely unchanged. Is it worth waiting for the 2012 model to be order-able or should I just pull the trigger on the current model. I want the current in red, and the LBS may not even be able to order that color scheme anyways.

Wow. Those prices are in Euros? It kind of bums me out that in order to get a RZ120 with a lefty, you need to spend close to $4,000. I may have to pick up the 2011 at the LBS to keep the price reasonable!

Same predicament in terms of purchase choice. The price gap between the carbon and alloy scalpel is big. Should I race my Flash 29er another season or sell it and go big with a carbon scalpel 29er to do all duties. Or keep my Flash and order an alloy scalpel for my epic riding habits and save the flash for racing. Hmmmmm.

The 2012 model line has an Alfine 11 version.
I have seen the catalogue at my local dealer. Unfortunately, there are no PDF catalogues available yet besides the ROAD and MTB models.
The Alfine 11 version is the "BAD BOY 0".

You can find the 2012 european pricelist by googling "cameleonbike cannondale 2012" (without the quotes). Sorry, but I am not yet allowed to post links.

Spoke about the new line yesterday with my LBS, he is enthralled by the new Bad Girl, for him at the price point could be a unisex hit if you are ... on the small side

I tend to agree, my second Dale was a DeltaV lots of memories

Its funny how the new 2012 Scalpel 29er looks a lot like a Norco. I am not sold on it and think I will wait a year to see how this bike develops. However sometimes pics can not show what the bikes really look like in real life.

Yeah happy with my 2011 look better than the 2012 CX 3 model anyways. $70 bucks less in 2012 but the 2011 had slightly better componenets.

Its clearly evident now that its a race to the bottom.

2010 $1,000 bucks give or take
    2011 $775
    2012 $699

.....Guess what its gonna be in 2013 $650 or $599.99

What is the US market wheel spec. for the Scalpel 29er Carbon 1? I have seen pictures with DT 1550 and Stan's Arch wheels.
the scalpel 29 1 will 2011 not have the kashima
    maybe next year

    i ordered a few weeks ago the scalpel29 2

i think the wheelset for the 1 will depend on the availability (for cannondale)

Bad girl should have been a white, slightly smaller version of BB with X0 Pink ;-)
Seriously I could give better designs then half the ugly colours lately, and styles.

I thought the plan was for Cdale to make the 29er also a zero pivot in the future? That's why I would not buy one right now. And of course money

Cannondale had the dealer/press presentation in Europe a few weeks ago and I believe the US dealer/press presentation was last week. Has anyone ridden the Scalpel 29er and written a first ride reveiw? Is there an press release embargo date? Some reviews should be coming out soon.

I did see a report by someone who rode the "Scaltininer". I think it was by a Czech guy. Seem to remember I had to put it through google translate to read it!. You might have a hunt for it on google. Will post it up here if I can find it....

Here's the one I was referring to anyway it was Italian btw!:

    http://www.mtb-forum.it/diretur-29-fontana/

Italian text after google tranlation...a bit hard to make out whether he really like it or not!

How promessovi in 2012 after the presentation of the range of Cannondale, now I have dedicated myself to the test of the new Scalpel 29-inch, with 100 mm of travel front and rear. Since I wanted to really try and not banks or morainic hills Morello or if you prefer, I went twice on top of a mountain here Deux Alpes and I brought the new Cannondale half in an alpine environment. Not satisfied, I brought with me, Marco Aurelio Fontana (click for interview), the rocket's XC Italian, to make a sort of benchmark and see how I did go over a 29-inch. I must admit that the results were excellent, as you can see in the picture above Fontana trudged behind me while I was flying aboard a 29.
[Editor's note: It is sarcastic, he's scary and even a handle on the saddle of a bike I would be the front or back].

Let's go on to serious matters. For the first round we decided to take the chair, as the photographer Ale Di Lullo, whom I thank for your patience, following us around and could not take the photo of a climb Ambaradan pretty tough. As mentioned, we decided to take a mountain trail is not prepared, and then with rocks, tight hairpins and steep share. Down with the seat of the Scalpel, I hook the pedals and I'm riding a bike with a rigid fork and superagile and states that can not be more. The driving position is central, rather than long trail race, with a front high enough to avoid frightening the rider steps on the rock.

Since Mark was behind me and I wanted to go we took the door is in the hairpins, which can ruotoni with particularly well. Seriously, the bike is short and nimble as much as a 26-inch, due to the fact that the engineers at Cannondale, in the person of Peter Denk and his team have managed to give 29 Scalpel Scalpel of the same wheelbase of 26 (range 2012 to see the slideshow for details).

The nose can press well and I had the feeling of holding a bike that is well on the trails. I do not know up to what is on the ruotoni, fattostà Scalpel 29 is that a successful project, at least down. We come then to the second round, the one with the climb. Meanwhile, get this picture to understand where we went to try it.

For the second lap I decided to atone for my pains to cleanse myself from my skepticism of the 29, since my evangelism did not follow the canonical binary prepared by various gurus forum-omni-present: I went to eat, I left immediately after the hot sun, a full stomach and up the steepest ascent possible. Purify!

To tell the truth, the steepest ascent can I got it by mistake, but irrespective of the beat-to-180 and the zenith of the sun, I climbed about 600 vertical meters with slopes greater than 20% at times. And here it turns out that the Scalpel 29 is not a racing bike but hiking: the front end tends to get quite high, the position quite compact and obviously not short step to help remedy the problem rather than a position at the tip saddle made me spend more steep ramps.

The ratios did not cause any problems for me, the rear, after closing the pro pedal on the Scalpel, which has a nice, does not move and thus avoids the sinking car. Lefty is also present on the lockout on the handlebar, but I have not used it since I was not on asphalt.

Traction of the tires was very good, although not particularly knobbly. Avid brakes halfway down from 9 on, whistled to wake the dead. I mounted a 180mm front disc, rear 160mm. They are the new Avid in 2012.

Arrival at the top, pull your breath away and I throw them back on the path before, enjoying like a hedgehog. During the two runs I did not notice the particular inflections of ruotoni, but I need more time to better study the behavior of the bike, which I hope to do the same as short-Scalpel should get there in 29 tests in about a month.

I take this opportunity to thank the team of Cannondale Italy (Simone, Manuel and Renato) for the wonderful opportunity given to us and try to present the 2012 bike and make the best of luck to Marco Aurelio Fontana, who left for Canada where tomorrow is Saturday host the next world Cup XC (Freecaster visible on Saturday night with us due to time zone).
