    Cable guide, flash 29er

Anyone else hate the plastic guide on the bottom of the bottom bracket? It squeaks and makes shifting horrible all around.

Any alternative other then a full housing. Mabye i am just due for a new guide. Bike is a year and a half old.

When it squeaks I just shoot a bit of chain lube on the guide and it quiets down. Easy fix.

I have tried that. It doesnt improve the shifting, just the squeak. The it gets caked with dirt where I ride.

Mabye i can try some wax lube and see how it does.

the guide couldn't have worn out surely, i have a 1999 f1000 with original guide on it. you could try a new cable, before slashing out on a guide. a cable with a ptfe coating might help, or...

gore ride on sealed. got them on mine - i am without squeak!

OK most of my experiences with getting the squeak are from shifting the front derailleur, where the shifting is perfectly fine but I get the noise. I ride in dusty conditions mixed with some water so there's no mud being caked on the cables at all.

Tried a different chain lube on te guide and it did improve the feel and the squeek. The guide is not worn down like i though.

I also had to suirt a tiny bit of lube in the end that starts in the chainstay. Might need to shorten the housing a tad bit to lessen the angle that cable has to travel through.

I will see how long it holds up.
