    Buying a new/used Cannondale flash 29'er carbon 2 or 3

So i'll start off with saying hello to everyone. I'm new to the MTBR forums. So i went and test road a new Cannondale flash 29'er carbon 3 today and wow was i in love the frame and everything are flawless, my questions are, what are everyone's thoughts on the bike and what would be the difference between the carbon 3 and the carbon 2? as well are there any sites online that would be like eBay where local sellers sell their bikes. i'm mainly going to be using the bike for trail riding/cross country riding and might try my hand at a local race or two.thanks for the feedback and happy riding.

I could not tell much differnce except for the wheels, But the 2 is like over 2k more than the 3. You can go on a sick bike trip with that or spend it on upgrades.

It is kind of tuff to find a med C3 right now. Even less used for sale.

There are quite a few differences between the carbon 2 and 3.

    1. Carbon lefty on the 2 vs alloy lefty on 3
    2. Carbon Bar instead of Alloy
    3. Save carbon post vs alloy.
    4. Wheels. The Carbon F2 on cannondale.com shows Crest Rims but the specs say arches. If you are using the bike for fast trail rides you might like the arches, but for a bike at this price (5k) it should come with a high end XC race wheel set. Crests on 240's, Crossmax SLR, etc. C'dale went cheap on the wheels for the F2. The F3 comes with I19 rims and similar hubs to the f2. Both wheelsets are pretty heavy probably over 2000 grams.
    5. Basically every drivetrain component is one step up on the higher model.

For an all around bike I think the F3 is a better buy. I would get it and ride it like it comes for a season and upgrade it if you want to make it more racey. I have a 2012 Flash Carbon 3 and with a wheel upgrade, and a lighter cassette its below 23 lbs. Plenty light for a sport class racer. The 2013 Carbon 2 is a nicer bike then the 3, but 5k is too much to pay and have to upgrade to lighter wheels.

Carbon 3 is one of Cdale's best values. Carbon 2 is one of Cdale's most overpriced IMO. Much much more bang for the buck on the Carbon 3. Get it & upgrade a few things & sell the stock stuff while it is still new. 2013 Lefty is much more desirable than the 2012 & older. Alloy PBR is fine for your application. Still a damn nice fork. Carbon has the ALLOY XLR, has a remote lock. All said & done, carbon 3 is a much better value.

All the more reason the Carbon 3 is a better deal.

I have Flash Carbon 3, very happy with it, not sure where are you located but you can get still 2012 models for great discount. if you are in San Francisco Bay area try Go Ride Bicycles in redwood city, they had 2012 Flash Carbon 3 for $3000 USD

Maybe your local store can match their price.

3000 is not a good deal for a bike with an msrp of 2700. Get at least 20% off for a 2012 at this point
