    Brake work Trail SL 3

So my new Trail SL3 already needs adjustment to the Tektra disc brakes.

Can not find one bit of information on "adjusting" brake.

Brake lever for the front brake is coming almost all the way back to the Hand grip in only 200-250 miles of riding.

    More mineral oil?
    Other adjustment?
    Web site?
Whizzy bangy or just plain ol Mineral oil?

Any source for the information since the manufacturer does not see fit to have a useful web site.

Sounds like your first set of hydraulic (hydros) brakes .
Im taking you meant that the brake lever is coming back to the grip .
Most all hydros have an adjustment screw at the lever near the pivot point .
This is where the bolt goes to attach the lever to the brake assembly .
It is usually a small size allen key ...2 , 2.5 or 3 mm that is need to
turn the lever adjustment screw .
Turn this a few times to get your lever to back out to a more desired
position that you find comfortable .

Let us know how you make out

    ccaddy,

You are correct, these are my first hydros and almost killed myself with the improved stopping ability with not only discs, but hydro discs . . . that is until I got used to them.

Love them now, just have to learn new system and tektra's web site sucks and Google searches have been disappointing too..

Will look for the adjustment as you mentioned tomorrow as it is chain cleaning time and I will work on learning something about brake system when I have it set up.

    Thanx for your assistance.

    Louis

Stopped half way through my ride tonight to do this and did not get it right, but did figure what I did (overdid) wrong and so will be ready to make corrections in the morning.

So simple one would think the manufacturer would cover it.

Oh well first new bike in years.

Looks like it has a separate screw to remove and fill/top off the mineral oil.

    Plain ol Mineral oil?????
