Anyone use EVOC travel bag with Lefty?

    Hello,

I have had an EVOC bag for a few years now, and it works awesome. Review: Evoc Bike Travel Bag | Mountain Bike Review

But in January I got a new Scalpel - with my first Lefty. Loving the bike, but as I was planning a trip I realized that the Lefty is not quite the same as a normal fork in terms of stability when the wheel is removed, for packing it in a bag like the EVOC. I had not even thought about it, because when traveling locally, my rack keeps the front wheel on.

Anyone have any experience packing a Lefty equipped bike in an EVOC or similar travel bag?

Is there any sort of aftermarket cover, protector for the Lefty axel when the wheel is off for travel?

Any tips or recommendations are appreciated.

    Kirk

Can't say anything about the bag (I've travelled with road and cross bikes but never with my mountain bikes)... but if you need to protect the Lefty's spindle when the wheel is off, you can easily make yourself a protector. Take a block of cellfoam padding (not styrofoam, it makes a mess of little particles), cut an X in the middle as deep as the spindle's length and just insert the spindle into that X.

Yes I have used the evoc bag. It fits no problem. I just placed a heap of towels around the spindle.

Used mine multiple times, but my bike is a Medium Scalpel Si. I don't think a large is any taller than a medium though. Works with the stem on, but I need to remove brakes and shifters because the cables aren't long enough.
