Anyone on CAADX - some sizing question - I will go crazy!!!

Anyone ride CAADX perhaps? Just placed online order for size 54 without prior test ride. These are rare in my location so test ride is truly impossible.

    Now, I am ~5 10.5 (179.5cm) so I guess 54 would be ok…

Just concerned a little about clearance, as this is more traditional then compact frame design.

Clearance wont matter unless you have very disproportionately short legs. Size seems about right but sizing shouldn't be done on the internet. What matters the most is the horizontal top tube length, the shop could have put you on a similarly sized bike (using geometry charts) as a starting point, it could have been a road bike too...

    Thanks DG!
My road bike was 55.7cm horizontal top tube… CAADX (54size) is 54.5 so a little shorter, both 73.5 seat tube angle. Sooo on paper 54 size looks ok, doesn't it?

I am not looking for pure cx racing bike, but long distance universal trining bike rather. I wish I could test ride!

You've probably got yours now but if not thought I'd let you know I've been riding my CAADX 105 for a few weeks now. Got measured for 54cm and I'm 5'10" too. Feels great.

Chap in shop said as a general rule get one size lower than you would on a road bike.

Some people say that (one size smaller for CX compared to road), but that means a more upright position. CAADX frames have a more upright position already than road bikes, so a I consider a smaller size redundant. My CX bike is a Specialized Crux, as the geometry was similar as the Cdale Superx but cheaper (alu vs carbon fiber). I'm about 6'1" and ride a 58.
