It should work out to about the same as a standard Hollowgram spider ($85) once we factor in shipping and currency conversion but we are still waiting for confirmation on the availability and lead time.

Regular chainring bolts work just fine... the bolts thread directly into the XX1 chainring so be careful when tightening..

I used single ring bolts as they are narrower and don't stick out

any chainring bolts dont work at all. i cant torque down the chainring bolts i was using with the XX chainrings on the hollowgrams for example. i came across this thread that suggested the chainring bolts from the new sram red work. what chainrings are you using at the moment?

Well standard chain ring bolts worked just fine for me.. I just pulled 4 spare bolts out of a box.. didn't order anything new.. tightend up and we're good to go..

I've been running the XX1 Hollowgrams for about 3 weeks now, have about 200k of offroad use on them and there is no sign of the bolts loosening or a creaky front ring which would indicate a problem in the set up..

Well, it was bound to happen, Cannondale's SISL2 crankset will soon have a mountain bike spindle and a XX1 spider. More info here...

I also found a company that will (if SRAM don't legally stop them) make chainrings with normal 4-bolts 104mm BCD, spiderless options but with XX1 shaped teeth...

Very cool but don't think they are making Hollowgram versions.....

Shamelessly knicked from this thread (Lighten up that XX1 Crankset)

Standard XX1 rings, chainring bolts and spider

Wolftooth GXP Spiderless "Drop Stop" (thick-thin) chainring for XX1 crank:

If only they would make a Hollowgram version, this would be by far the best option for Hollowgram XX1 (in my opinion)

    - Spiderless is 28g lighter
    - Much cheaper as no need to buy spider and ring
    - Better mud clearance.
    - Less things to creak or come undone (no chainring bolts)
    - Only negative I can see is can't change rings so quickly (ie: for a hilly race)

From the thread I link above...I think they are worried not enough numbers to make a Hollowgram version...Going to harrass them by email

Any Machinists in the house - Hollowgram + XX1...

Carbon Ti makes a Hollowgram version of its Monosync ring

Zeta components too, a bit heavy but cheap (-40% compared to other)

Spiderless large-thin rings I know only these 2 versions

Thanks Eliflap. I also got an email back from Absolute Black saying they are planning to make direct mount hollowgram thick-thin rings in a few weeks time...

    like this one:

    Sram Spiderless

as a guide, these are around £48 in UK.

i don't know why there is a Specialized version of integrated chainset instead an Hollowgram version.

    or Sram too, why ?

i guess sram for the big number of cranksets on board , i think...

    but why not Hollowgram yet?

with the different spindle lenghts you can fine adjust chainline, instead of the Specialized or Sram ...

I have a Sram 30T XX1 ring mounted up on a Leonardi Hollowgram spider. The interesting thing is, whilst you can't rotate the ring (by 1 hole, to spread wear evenly over the teeth) it's possible to reverse the ring on this spider and run it backwards to double its life. (I heard the life of the sram narrow-wide rings is quite short)

I've not tried it on a bike and the chainline would be different (it's also a bit more messy looking). However, what would be interesting is if somebody marketed a "backwards spider". You would buy that second spider once and it would allow you to reuse all your worn Sram rings the other way around
