    2014 MTB Cannondale Hollowgram SiSl2

In case anybody is curious about the new 2014 MTB Cannondale Hollowgram SiSl2 cranks, I just got my new bike a couple of days ago with these cranks. They are redesigned. Below is a bunch of pictures showing the new cranks.

The spindle is now 137mm; 5mm longer than the previous version of 132mm. Just like the road version that came out last year the spindle is 5mm longer (road version went from 104mm to 109mm). Also notice that there is no lip for the nondrive side as in previous versions.

The ends of the spindle are drilled out for weight savings.

    98g for the spindle

New spindle bolts. They are shorter than previous versions and have 12 point engagement instead of 6.

The bearing shields are also redesigned.

Nondrive side spacer. Previous versions of the hollowgrams did not have a spacer on the nondrive side. This spacer is now needed since the lip has been removed from the spindle. Notice it is tapered on the inside. This is to accommodate the wave washer and shims which were on the drive side previously.

    Nondrive side spacer is 19mm

Machined differently here for weight savings.

Crank ends are tapered. This saves a few grams and gives better clearance with chainstays.

Mine came with 38/24 rings with 104 bolt pattern spider. There are many other spiders available including 76mm Sram XX1.

New question here. Which 2014 did you get? Scalpel Black Inc?

I got the F29 Black Inc. I'm real excited about the bike. Highlights include full XTR and ENVE bar, post, and wheels. I'm selling the cranks since I've already got a set of SiSl2 with Stages Powermeter and XX1 front chainring.

schworm, do tell us about the stages power meter. I'm a SRM guy and just put one on my scalpel. The only downside is that chainring choices are limited since the bolt pattern is 80/120 on the SRM. How long have you had the stages and can you compare it to anything else?

I love the Stages power meter! One nice feature is that you can use any spider since the power meter is on the nondrive side. Most of the time I use my XX1 spider but occasionally I'll swap it out for a double and it does not effect the power readings. Also, it paired with my Garmin very quickly...just needed a quick calibration (done automatically with the new firmware). It's very low weight; claimed at adding just 15g to the cranks. It also measures cadence without any extra sensors or magnets since it has a built in accelerometer. Also because of the accelerometer it can read power quicker since a full revolution or two is not needed compared to other power meters that have a separate sensor for cadence. Finally it is not as expensive as other systems out there. The only disadvantage with the Stages is the fact that it only measures power from the left leg and then doubles it (since the meter is on the nondrive side). Because of this there is no left/right balance as in other meters.

I've not ridden with any other power meter so I can't compare actual ride experiences, but overall I am very happy with the Stages. In fact, I actually have two, one on my Cannondale and another XT on my "winter bike".

Let me know if you have any other questions!

So is there any way to purchase this crankset separate from a bike?

I don't think you can yet. Eventually they'll be available but in the mean time you might be able to find them on eBay or something.
