Smile 2009 scalpel 4 or 2010 RZ ONE Twenty 3? NEED HELP

    Hey all,
I need some help. The wife would like a bike , but Iím in the middle of
    what to get.
LBS can order this from Cídale they still have some 2009 in stock

    http://www3.cannondale.com/bikes/09/...odel-9VP4.html

    2009 scalpel 4-$2300 with tax $2500
    2009 scalpel 5-$1790 with tax $1945

Almost put some money down on a 2010 RZ aka Rize today. But back out of
it b.c. he would not come down more for the 2010 RZ ONE Twenty. Only
came off $150 of the mrap.

    http://www3.cannondale.com/bikes/10/...odel-0VL3.html

2010 RZ ONE Twenty 3-$2500 with tax $2709
2010 RZ ONE Twenty 4-$1790 with tax $1945

He has to order these also. WILL NOT BE IN UNTIL FEB 8.

He said Cannondale have some good deals for the 2009. Does he have more
room to work with me on the price? I need to see if can get it cheaper.
Also, do you think Iím getting more bike for the money if I go with the
2009 Scalpel 4 or the Scalpel 5. Is the lefty need? Is it that much
better? Is the RZ 123 THAT MUCH BETTER? THANX ALL.

what kind of riding do you do?

the scalpel is more of a xc / race orientated bike the rize isn't.

Iíd go with the biggest bang for my buck the 09 scalpel 4 if it was my money

The RZ 120 can definitely be raced. I had a buddy win a stage of the trans rockies and several other endurance events on the RZ 140 so the 120 can only be that much better You also get a better lefty on the 120 with the OPI outer and better guts...

.. what kind of riding do you do?

Some Trails, some middle to hard trails. This will be the wife first real MT Bike.
Also, do I pay a little more if the shop is good to us? I want to support my LBS., but work with me some on the price is all I ask. I know he has to eat...

    2009 scalpel 4-You say. HUH!!

Is the lefty need? If not I was thinking of the 2009 scalpel 5.. But if she is going to get a better ride on the lefty? The shop doesn't have one in the shop for us to test ride so all of this going off what people are saying.

    Thanx

    I see.

Well you think the LBS would do this

2010 RZ ONE Twenty 4 with the 2010 RZ ONE Twenty 3 lefty? And charge me little more for the lefty. The Derailleur Can be upgrade later.

or the 2009 scalpel 5-$1790 with the 2010 RZ ONE Twenty 3 lefty?

    Thanx

this changes things a bit although i know a few women that are riding the scalpels perhaps the rize might be a more "forgiving" bike for someones first real mtb.

can your wife ride both bikes and if so why not let her decide what she feels more confident on rather than taking advice off the internet.

trust me if momma ain't happy nobody is gonna be happy.

If it was my wife I'd buy the RZ as it has a more relaxed geometry and should feel a bit more stable in the rough stuff.

If I was running the LBS, I wouldn't

Punters buy specific models built to a certain spec - they either know the spec before they walk in or they check it out later. A new (seemingly untouched) bike is a big part of the hedonism involved. Tearing bikes apart to mix and match would take the cherry right out of the purchase and they know this. There would be every chance that they would need to drastically discount the plundered bike to get it out the door.

Don't get me wrong - ask for whatever you want - but I doubt they will go for it.

    Thanx Cracker for the info.

I just came back from the other shop and they had a
RZ 123 black 2500 but he said he would work something out.

shop also has a 2009 Rush 7 1449 said he would go down on..

then a 2009 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Elite he would do for 2400 maybe some more off.
    The rz is 27.5 lb
    stumpjumper is 35 lb
    did not weight the Rush

Or should I just have one build like a Niner W.F.O. 9 or R.I.P. 9? Some in that class?

    Thanx all great info

    .................
She like the 2009 Rush 7. Said it was very nice and felt like she could get up and go on it.

RZ 123 she said just did not feel right to her. Said she it was like she was all up on the handle bars.

    Rush large is 24.6 in

RZ 123 large is 24.1 in

    Wife is 5í 10.5

She is happy, I'm happy, the fam is happy.

I ride a Rush built up from the frame. It is the most enjoyable bike I've ever owned (6 mid to high end full suspension mangles in all). The honeymoon period is certainly over and I'm still convinced it is the best thing since sliced bread. I suspect your missus will enjoy the Rush, it is simple sold and well designed.
