    '05 Scalpel 2000 or '04 Scalpel 3000???

    [SIZE=3]Hey guys,
    I've been thinkin' about ordering an '05 Scalpel 2000 through my company's Prodeal... I think it'd run me around $1500. However, I recently saw a new '04 Scalpel 3000 for sale for $2500 at my lbs. I was really looking to stay under $2k, but that sounds like a pretty good price for a full XTR Scalpel with the DT Swiss, Crossmax, etc. And if I did go this way then I wouldn't have to wait for the 2005 models to ship. Think it's worth it? I guess I'll probably try to go haggle with them a little on the price, though I doubt they'll come down much more from the original sticker of $4400. Anybody know what dealer's cost was on the '04 3000? I don't want to rape these guys, but if I can get the price closer to my budget then it seems like it might be the way to go, yea? Btw, this isn't a real small lbs. They've got quite a few stores, so this isn't gonna put them out of business by any means.

    Thanks,

    Caleb

    i wish i have prodeal on cannondale, but instead i have prodeal on Yeti. all my buddy tell me to get the yeti because they are alot cheaper. i love the lefty too much so i sticking with cannondale. if you don't have a decent bike get the 04 3000 but if you can wait i would get the 05 2000 cause you will have aleast $1000 left to upgrade the bike. i think you can get the 05 2000 as light or lighter than the 04 3000 with one grand.

    i think the only main difference is the SPV rear shock on the 05. also go with what you really want if you have the money. cause you don't want to regret not get that bike after you buy the other one.

    Thanks for the thoughts... I guess for me, it'll really come down to my preference for the rear shock. Of course, since I've always been a hardtail guy, I'm pretty ignorant about shocks, despite all of the reading I've done. Anyone have an opinion they'd care to share? Float RP3 vs. DT Swiss 210? Also, it goes without saying that the XTR/Crossmax setup is awesome, but the XTR is more money up front, and a lot more money if you need to replace something later on down the road. Oh, and there's one other difference... '04s Lefty Carbon DLR vs. '05s Lefty Speed Carbon DLR2. Honestly, though, I don't think there's much difference between the two. Once again, anybody care to educate me?

    Thanks,

    Caleb
