Canfield just pimps the coil hos, I guess. Maybe contact them and see if they can get you one. They're really cool people.

X-Fusion said their whole next run is going to Canfield .

Big loss in sales having no units for the public .

Happy customers spread the word and quickly increase sales.

    No customers increases nothing.

Imagine Fox - Marzocchi - Rock Shox not having any product for the public .

Its funny listening to someone on the phone basically being proud of doing really bad business .

Would Love to have a Canfield One frame some day.

I ordered a CCDB 2 weeks ago ,I was told delivery in 2 weeks , then turned into 6 or more.

    Bike World is amazing .

I have an 8.75 x 2.75 Vector HLR that I might want to sell. A year old and in great shape. Have 400 and 450 springs.

Tell you what, go ahead and offer X-fusion a $1,000,000 plus L.O.C. with, say, 180 net, and then they *might* be able to put out enough to satisfy consumer (non OEM) demand. For just a few e-e sizes. Mmmmk?

    "Tell you what,"

    Its simple .
No product for the people .
    No more company.

I dont care how good it is , if I can't get it I need to move on with all the others- everyone - who can't get one.

    Wish them luck .

CCDB order ended up stupid as well. :-)

My reply was pretty much tongue in cheek, but sometimes trying to cater to the broader public first backfires. Fox built its entire company on OEM development, individual consumer sales were just gravy. It is an established business practice, and provides a layer of consumer AND OEM protection that can be very difficult to navigate without massive capitalization.

not at all trying to crush your point (you do have a valid one, btw), but maybe the pressure ought to be places more upon x-fusion. They make a fantastic product, but maybe they aren't producing quite enough to fill demand. Or more likely, it's a question of sales stability of sales for them. If a bike maker like Canfield contacted them and said we want this many shocks and here is the cash for them, that would be hard to pass up. The sales are guaranteed money in X-Fusion's pocket, and no sitting on unsold inventory in a warehouse.

Forecasting, producing, and then waiting for retailers/consumers to buy product can be a very scary business in today's world. I work as an engineer for one of the larger players in the outdoor equipment industry, and that is one of our largest struggles. We make some awesome stuff, we spend a ton of cash on producing it, and it sits on a shelf because retailers aren't able to sell what they currently have on their shelves. Not sure if that's what their mindset is, but I can understand their decision if my assumptions are true.

Oh, and yes, definitely get yourself a Canfield someday.

For the record, we ordered 10 shocks from them and there all sold. The X Fusion works really great on our bikes and they are very popular right now. We are sold out of them and waiting for more. They all went to Joe public. The CC DB and the X Fusion are the hottest selling shocks for us.

No pressure at all to Canfield.
Just stating what I am told , no product for the consumer as the next run will be going to them.

If Canfield is not getting many then I have no idea what X-Fusion is doing as this makes no sense .

I had a bump in my order with Cane Creek- change of story after ordering - and was looking to X-Fusion as an option .

I will take X-Fusions word that none will be available on their next run and wait for my CCDB.

    Someday I will get a Canfield one . :-)

    Anger/disappointment is clouding your judgement.

Plenty of companies have OEM only distribution. You may not like it, but it isn't a personal insult and it isn't necessarily a bad business model. When supplies are limited or production is being ramped up, it is quite common to limit availability to a few select bulk customers. The reason for this is that it avoids the very scenario you're decrying. It is easier to meet known demand of pre-negotiated contracts than the unpredictable demand of the general public.

With that said, apparently that wasn't the case here.

The only problem here is that they committed to your purchase and then realized that they can't meet demand. It isn't a good situation but not one that merits much indignation either.

    "Anger/disappointment is clouding your judgement."

    I have none of this.

Just stating on the internet my experience with getting a new rear shock.

This is just about what I was told by both companies.

Canfield was just the excuse for no shocks now and the next run .

    Getting my CCDB this friday.

Think of the business chance all retailers of everything around the world take stocking product to sell to the public .

A shock company can do more than OEM and should.

Eventually my CCDB will be going on a ONE

Two ridding buddies are on the DSP's, pretty happy fella's.

If your looking for for bang-for-buck. Pick yourself a cheap dhx,dhx air, Vanilla and send it off it to Avalanche for a custom work over. As a result, you'll have a killer shock.

Two weeks ago I received my Avy-massaged DHX Air. I've clocked a tone of hours since then, pretty damn impressed.
