    Jedi downtube rigid protection anyone?

Would like to get one, but can't find any and although i know a place or two that can make a mold and then a carbon protection or something, i would have to strip my Jedi and send them the frame for quite a few day, so i want to avoid that.

What i would really like is something like this Rockguardz - Real Carbon Fibre MTB Rock Protectors or this http://amygos.fr/protections-cadre-v...id_product=302

I have this king of rigid protections on both my SC's, Nomad and Blur, and they have saved me more than once from damaging the frames, so i really think they are worth.

Anyone know where i can get this for my Jedi, or did any Jedi owner here made this kind of protection for his Jedi?
    TIA

I've been in touch w/ Cytoe on this. He makes them for Niner, and a lot of models of the SC plastic fantastic bikes. I tried to get him to go a bit longer, but his blank stock are pre-cut. I'll bug him again this winter

This is on my list of projects for the winter. I will keep this forum up to date on how it goes and if I can make multiples.

Our distributor in France is working on a full protection kit, (DT, stays and possibly a fender.)

    WOW!!! That's it. Perfetc!
That's what i was looking for. I already have protections made by that guy at Amygos (Antonio) for my SC's, but last time i had checked he didn't had those.
And yeah, i'll pay for that. It's not cheap, but to protect an expensive frame it's well worth it.
    Thanks!

The fender is not for sale yet, but there are a few prototypes already being tested by some riders in France

    Ok i have more news.
I have been in contact with Antoine (at Amygos) and he tells me they are still on the prototypes phase, but soon he will have the final product ready.
He sent me some pics of the prototypes.
If anyone is interested please check the AMYGOS - AMYGOS site and get in contact with him

That's killer. Wish I could find this sort of kit for The One as well.

OK, here is my first attempt at a cheap rigid downtube protection:
This one I did on my ONE, I will make another for the '14 jedi when it gets here, and I also have access to a '13 jedi I will probably make one for that as well.

It's not perfect but I did some more trimming and will probably buff the edges with a dremel to make it smooth and clean

These are made from a Kydex T sheet .08 thick 8"x12". Cut the sheet in half using a straight edge and razor, score it and then break. Then using some tough sheers you can cut out your pattern. I made my pattern using a piece of paper cut to the same size and then traced onto the kydex.

Heat in the oven at 250 deg and then you mold it to the contour of the frame. This was kind of tricky but I used some cloth sports tape to wrap around and keep it tight in the corners while it cooled. I also employed a heat gun to finish the form and tighten the cloth tape around the frame up the curve.

I bought my Kydex on fleabay for like 20$ for 4 sheets of 8"x12" .08 thick. Pretty cheap option and pretty easy to work with. We'll see how tough it is.

I did a couple more today. These are pretty easy to do once I did a few.

Rage, what is that little pack tucked up there, a bag of DAQ electronics?

They are .08" thick which is 1/16". They appear to be quite durable, resistant to breaking and "seem" like they would deflect a rock very nicely. Time will tell though, and we'll see how well they hold up.

While certainly an option, I wouldn't do it on mine. I'm not sure the cost but I'm positive that the Kydex is cheaper, can't beat $2. Also, once applied it's NOT coming off. The Kydex or carbon one's are meant to be removable, for cleaning and in case the next owner doesn't want it.

It's the newest, coolest, enduro-specific mtb technology! Tube, patch kit, pump and CO2 carts. My bro doesn't like riding with a pack on so he carries it here.
