    Crampon Maintenance?

I've had my crampons for about half a year now and they have been quite superb. I must have bashed them into every single rock on our DH track (that's a lot of rocks), including some hits that made me think "there goes my pedal" - but they haven't even lost a pin.

Now the bearings are starting to feel a bit rough after some recent wet weather and mud. Are they user serviceable? Or should I just get a new bearing set? And if so, what bearings do I need? Do I a special bearing press to fit them?

Ok got them going again. 2 of the 4 ball bearings were seized due to rust. I repacked them, but they still run rough and will have to be replaced

Can anyone confirm that these are "686" bearings? The numbers on the seals are a bit hard to read.
Also, could I replace them with ceramic bearings like these? 6x13x5mm Ceramic Ball Bearing - 686 Ceramic Bearing - 686 Ball Bearing | eBay
