    Cassette

I was wondering if anyone has tried to combine a 42 tooth cog/micro drive hub setup? Would it work? I'm getting some new rims and I've been leaning heavily towards the purchase of the micro drive hub/cogs for a total ratio of 9-42 in a 9 or 10 speed cassette.

Thanks Homey at least I know it's possible, I'd like to try the same thing with a 9 speed cassette as I wouldn't have to invest in a new grip shift. Thanks for the help.

    The 9 speed cassette is a 9-28 so mounting a 42 wouldn't work. You'll need a 10 speed conversion cogs and a cassette with a 36 to make the jump up to a 42.

Yeah, I got to thinkin about that yesterday. I'm just trying to get around having to buy a new shifter, They're pricey. I was also thinking about taking apart a 9 and 10 speed cassette and building my own with the applicable spacers....doable?
