    Canfield at Leogang World Cup?

Vital RAW Leogang Day 1 - HAULING FREIGHT! - Mountain Biking Videos - Vital MTB

at 2:06, rider number 34 is on what looks like a Canfield with a dual crown that is not a Jedi.

Timed training results shows that as IsakLEIVSSON Isak, and 23rd there. He is on their site as one of their riders but the bike he is on is interesting. Looks sort of like a Riot...

Looks more like an oh17 balance. Check out how you can see the the linkage in front of the seat tube, as opposed to the riot's linkage goes behind the seat tube. Plus the new balances are rated for a dual crown.

Yea '17 got beefed up to handle a dual crown. The Balance is probably better, faster, than the Jedi on certain courses. That's so cool.

Phil Atwill did a practice run on Leogang on his hard-tail to make a point about the course being a bit too smooth:

I think this is the last gen Balance the more I look at it. First thought was that they were 29er wheels though. I just checked and he qualified 34th, not too shabby.

Only the '17s or is it all balance frames using 8.5X2.5 shocks and 165mm travel (basically the 2016s as well)?

The 17s have 3 differences to the 16s.
1: water bottle bosses (I think on the underside of the downtube)
2: little graphics on the chain or seat stays that say "cbf", I think it's on the linkage as well
3: reinforcement where the downtube meets the head tube and this is why you can run a dual crown.

Saw that result, he got 18th! That is a serious accomplishment, has he got you wanting to challenge him Chris?

Interested to know any details on that bike, we all know it has to be a proto so nothing is finalized. I can speak for us all though to say we are very interested to know what is in the works there. Its a pretty exciting time in the bike world.

My least favorite are when the group start suggesting what it should be. If we knew best, we would be building bikes... That won't stop others though as they think they know what they want and think you guys are the best to build it, also flattering really so I mean no offense by this.

Make it true to your philosophy and people will love it or they will pick something else. I just want to know what it is and will decide for myself if it is something I will get excited about in the future.

All I want is a proper XL with a long reach and a seat tube that's more or less inline with the BB so that moving the seat up and down doesn't change the effective angle; If you need tall riders to test, I'll take one for the team.

Is this really the return of the One?

Burly Balance? Travel 180mm front and rear. 64° Head angle, short stays. Maybe 430mm to allow for the increase in travel. Or 165mm 29er that will take a 180mm dual crown fork! Don't know. Can't tell that much from the pics on my phone.

An updated version of the One keeping the adjustable rear travel of 180mm and 203mm with the option of a single or dual crown fork. As far as specific geometry, I would leave that to the Bros because my 2013 One is dialed!!

I saw Lance on this over Thanksgiving at Bootleg and spoke to him about it.

All I'm wondering now is a release date...?

You saw him on that bike and that's all the info you're going to give us. Come on. We need a little more of a teaser. How about just giving us a wheel size to start.

    The wheels are round!

I did notice, as well, that the frame was made of a shiny metal...

In all seriousness, that bike looked like an evolution of The ONE. Basically a 8" travel bike with the CBF platform. I would assume it has 27.5, but that's just guessing. Maybe it's 27.5 OR 29er.... wouldn't that be an oddity?!?

I've been pestering Sean about details but they seem pretty tight lipped..

Now just for a release date!!!

Looks like you have an ElevenSix on your Balance. I would imagine you have a few choices, any preferences?

I do have a request for the new bike. If it does go boost, which I'm not a fan of, make it 142 standard compatible also. Banshee does it with their modular dropouts and a German company, Last, has a bike called the Clay that uses an insert on the disc side of the dropout to convert to 142. That's if the new bike goes boost.

So is this a Jedi replacement? Really a 29" version of the Balance with 200mm rear??? Chris was quoted a while back saying a 200mm Balance to replace the Jedi was a couple of years away (I think he said that in 2016 interview). With 29" wheels though? I'm intrigued. Wonder if they are thinking Carbon frame for the production version?

    Pretty much this.

Based on my dissatisfaction with my previous bike, I had pretty strong, specific opinions on what I wanted my next bike to be - really short chainstays to keep it playful and willing to carve, high-speed stability from a longer reach and slack HTA, and a steep STA to keep my weight forward while climbing seated and to keep the ETT comfortable despite longer reach. The Balance was exactly that, and it's been better than I had imagined.

But, how would I change that? I have no idea. I'm too satisfied on my current Balance to know what I'd want to change. I don't experiment with new geometry ideas. And, I don't know what sort of riding the new Canfield would be aimed at.

So, use your own Canfield judgement to make it the best bike you can. Stick to your guns on what the bike should be, how it should ride, and what geometry's necessary to accomplish that. It's served you well in the past.

Seems like this new mystery bike is more down hill, freeride oriented? The Balance is fantastic for anything from trail riding to park days. Had mine at Angel Fire recently and it rocked. Also have taken it on all day epic adventures, just put lighter wheels on it for that. I guess it depends on what type of riding you're doing.

Please correct me Bros if I'm wrong. Dying to know what's brewing.

Beardsely, yes buy a Balance now. You won't regret it. ScottieM8 is right about how versatile the Balance is. Can be ridden everywhere and will also take a dual crown fork,'17 and newer. Yea the new bike is going to be cool. And I would love to have a burly long travel 29er, but you can ride the Balance now!

Surprised no one has commented on the fact that Chris won by 7 seconds! That's badass. Good job man. The Brothers don't just build badass bikes, they're badass riders too.

Chris, enjoyed your talk with Dusty. Now how about some more teasers on this new bike?
Haven't even got my Riot together and y'all have already got me thinking about the next one.
