    Any 2013 Nimble 9 news?

Just asking since I haven't seen anything yet. I'm hoping the new model will have a tapered head tube and some different colors.

I am hoping to just be able to get one!

(But if I had to pick, would love to see the dark blue from the Yelli lineup)

We can't say to much just yet... BUT, I can say that we have listened to all of your requests on the new bike. We are looking like May for an ETA... as we get closer I'll have a full press release for you, and promise to share a few drawings once we are deeper in production!

How's the other project coming along? AKA the Yelli Screamy HT but in cromoly.

Here's some news; I figured out the origin of the name.

Very curious about the new N9. Tempted to get one of the last XL's, too.

The updates of the N9 are pretty exciting-
A new look- and the 44 HT.
    Same Geo though.
Seat tube also changes to the 30.9.

Can't give out more than that.

But they are looking like they will hit sooner than May.

    Highlighter yellow like this:

    And pillar box red:

And a raw finish like this would be killer too:

I'm def. digging the highlighter yellow as well, (my new Jedi will be that color, although it might be a tough color to retail). Raw will be tough as we are having them ED Black treated at at the factory for anti-corrosion resistance. We have had a ton of requests for the blue that we have done in the past, so that's a definite!

Matte black with dark gray or ghost black panel/ lettering. Dark gray with dark red panel/ lettering. Maybe a dark red with cream panel/ letting. The blue you had a couple of years ago looks really sweet. I almost bought a blue one the someone on here was selling, it looked really good.

We will DEF. bring the Canfield Sparkle Blue back as it has been HIGHLY requested. As far as stickers, we ALL really love the current ones and will continue with them on the new bike.

As we draw closer, I will have much more info for you... thanks for ALL the feedback!

You mean this one? Pretty close to the highlighter yellow I requested. I love my Xar.

As for STI wheels, they are a straight up gold color, never bronze.

Highlighter yellow or highlighter blue. I think new graphics should be an option. My Yelli could use some company...

Highlighter yellow is a sick color for a bike with some black wheels and a fork on there. I'm also digging the raw finish of a steel frame.
I'm eager to see some drawings of the new frame. I really hope there is ISCG tabs for a possible hammerschmidt setup. It would also open up a world of opportunity to be able to mount a proper chainguide without a crappy BB mount. The clearances would be super tight, but I would gladly exchange a few mm of chainstay for the pleasure of tabs.

What is the ETA for any possible prototypes that Canfield will get their hands on?

This thread needs some teaser pics!

You right about the Helmet that is the one.

You right about the flat out gold but I see so many of the wagon style STI's with this color wheel and look exactly like the gold ones you posted that I figured it was a factory option. People in Colorado sure do love there supped up Subys

So is the 2013 N9 the frame that Canfield mentioned previously on here that will be similar to the Yelli features but in cromoly? Or are you guys debuting another new frame next year altogether?

Any word on tire clearance on the new N9, enough room for a 2.4?

    2.4 are no problem-
All tires are a bit different- and we are in the derailleur space being this short- But small amount of trimming to the derailleur and you should have no problems.
Again, all tires run a bit different- but my Racing Ralph's were fine.
Plus, you can slide back the drops up to 16.9" for more clearance for larger tires. Or run a 1x like the XX1 or our Microdrive hub.

Highlighter yellow would look awesome flying down the trail but a matte gunmetal gray with black logo and red accents would look fast just sitting still. I'm debating trying to find a used N9 to build up now so I have something to ride through the winter or waiting until the new releases drop in the spring.

2013 is sounding good for the N9, Ive been holding out for a tapered head tube and midnight blue frame. A 30.9 seat tube is a plus for the option of a dropper post, can't wait for your guys work to come together, good luck!

How about a nice mat black like your DJ bike?

    Lower stand over...check

    44 HT...check

Question: Are your dropouts compatible with Paragon parts? I would like to add a 142x12 Shimano axle and post mount hardware if possible.

PLEASE, PLEASE Have a Flat Black or some Flat Black Harley Davidson Color. I want all the silver/chrome on my bike to POP!

I am really getting excited for this new N9! I only hope that it'll have a stronger/burlier headtube gusset. I know that it'll have a much fatter headtube but i'm just sayin....

Vin, Sean and Lance, I want a flat black, grey color PUHLEASE!!

PS anyone wants to buy my Yelli in May? It is lightly used and not abused:P

Oh and if I can throw in one thing add a second bottle holder, only one and a hardtail is a bit annoying when trying to do the pack less ride.

Also PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do NOT get rid of the way the seat stays wrap the seattube. Looks wise that is my favorite part of the bike.

I'm totally with you on the second set of bosses. However, most of those bent or offset seat tube bikes don't seem like they'd have enough room for a second set on the small or even medium sizes. Guess I'm going to have to come to peace with carrying a pack again.

So, this is not the 2013 frame that I assume after reading this thread and canfield forum...

Nimble 9 mountain bike frame for downhill or cross-country riding

Also not 1-1/8 head tube and 27.2mm seattube but everything else remain the same?

The anticipation is killing me!! I am by no stretch of the imagination a "bad-ass" like Scott Forty G, but have also cracked the headtube weld on my beloved N9. Racing on a 4-man SS team at the 24hrs at the Old Pueblo mid-Feb, I will unfortunately probably have to transfer all the parts to my old Jabber frame for the race...what a huge contrast in geo's between the two!

I hear ya! I've been going back and forth on a Yelli Screamy or waiting for the new N9, but fortunately it'll be a complement to my Jabber, which has been great to me in its own way. Anyone care to give me their two cents? ...and please don't say "ditch the Jabber and buy both a Yelli and N9!" Haha! I'm still awaiting thoughts from Mr. "bad-ass" himself, who's also gone through the whole gamut, Jabber to N9 to Yelli.

I have 2 single speeds. 1 Jabberwocky and 1 Nimble 9. They are very different bikes. I originally sold my 1st Jabber in March, and I got a Nimble 9. I fell in love with the N9 right away. My new N9 love left my full suspension bike sitting unused. In reality it had been largely unused for the past 6 months as I had begun riding my single speed everywhere. I eventually sold the full suspension frame, and after I went through a few frames for various reasons I found myself back with a new Jabberwocky frame in November. I primarily use the Jabber for smoother trails and the little bit of racing I do. I use the N9 on the chunkier and steeper trails. I keep the N9 set at 32 x 20 and the Jabber as 32 x 18. All that said, if I could only have 1 bike it would be the N9 no question.

Gearing aside, what does the Jabber give you over the N9 for the smoother trails?

IMHO the difference between the N9 and Jabber are night & day. Shorter CS on the N9 make for a snappier ride, works well when I ride more chunk, over rocks and drops. The Jabber's longer TT and CS is more condusive to smoother cross country style riding. The top tube on my small Jabber is the same as on my medium N9. With that being said, as Capt_America stated above, if I had only one choice for a steel HT it would be the N9. Where I live there is a lot of different terrain type, 60 plus miles of smooth single track with long sustained climbs and down the street is miles and miles of granite rock tech chunk that will challenge just about anyone!

You pretty much nailed it. I have a large Jabber and a large N9. The N9 ETT is a bit shorter than the Jabberwocky which I like more for the technical trails.

Love, love, love the color. Exactly what I was hoping for!! Welds and top tube are sweet! Now, as far as the brace connecting the top tube to seat tube (not sure of technical term), hmmm...not quite sure how I feel about that, yet. Any teaser shots from the side? Regardless, I think I'll get over it real quick!! Can't wait for more of the reveal!

    What size is that frame?

Only thing I would be worried about for the bigger guys like myself is how little seatpost would be in the seat tube and it still wouldn't meet the top tube junction. I believe that's one of the reasons why my TransAM frame was cracked at the seat clamp slot, even though I had 100mm + into the frame, it barely made it past that junction.

The top tube is triangular? That's ... different.

Looks very interesting. I can't wait to see more pics. Now to decide whether I'm going to keep my current large or move to an xl now that the standover is better. I wonder if any of the chages affect the ride and feel of the bike? The different stays are bound to make some difference there one way or the other.

I was so close to pulling the trigger on a frame from On One.....

...now I have to sit back and wait to see more of this new N9. I figured they were going to make a change or two, but I didn't think it would be that sexy. NEED MORE PICS!!

Separate cable guides for derailleur and brakes now? Have to admit I hated the "single guide for all cables" on my N9 at first, but it has grown on me and now I find myself wishing some of my other bikes had it.

Most important question... Does the blue still glow in the dark?

    Europe?

When will the new N9 be available in Europe?

Who will be the distributor for germany?

Again the question about the seattube...
what is the minimal insertion depth for the seatpost with the new lower toptube?

The Canfield Brothers 29er revolution continues with the ALL NEW Nimble 9. From the start of the redesign of the current Nimble 9, we wanted to give the bike a distinctive look different from what is currently available in chromo hardtails. We wanted to incorporate a hydro formed toptube and a 44mm head tube. New innovations include a removable front derailleur block that allows the frame to look super clean when setting it up as single speed. We also designed new sliding dropouts that are reminiscent of something seen on custom motorcycle. Lastly, we gave the new Nimble 9 the innovative Canfield Brothers 29er Geometry.

We will be releasing the new Nimble 9 in nine colors, Canfield Glow in the Dark Sparkle Blue, Sparkle Orange, Sparkle Green, Matte Black, Gloss Black, Deep Red, Midnight, Forest Green and Limited Edition Chrome.

The Nimble 9 is currently in production with an estimated ship date of May 2013.

    Features:

    4130 chromoly steel
    68° head angle with a 120mm fork
    Adjustable 16.25-“ 16.9” chainstays
Lower toptube for increased stand over height
Custom sliding 135mm x 10mm rear dropouts for geared or single speed options
    NEW hydroformed toptube
Removable direct mount front derailleur block
    Improved chainstay heel clearance
    Two water bottle bosses
    6.5 lbs (estimated)
$750 US retail, ($800 Limited Edition Chrome)

    Build Specs:

    Recommend fork lengths – 100mm – 120mm
Headset – 44mm upper and lower cups
Front derailleur – Shimano direct mount – top pull, single bolt, or Sram HO series
    Bottom bracket – 73mm
    Seat post – 30.9mm
    Seat clamp – 35mm
    Rear dropout spacing – 135mm
    Post brake mount
