    2012 Canfield one rear Axle

Changing my rear tire , I moved the bike into the garage and someone took my rear axle from where I left it .

    Called and no replacement .

Told to get Rock Shock Maxle

    Got it

    142 x 12 is way too long

Contact surface is slightly larger than machined recess in frame .

135 x 12 looks llike it will work but the contact area will be altered in tightening .

    Suggestions please .

    I want to ride .

    Thanks in advance .

How odd. For some reason I thought they used Syntace compatible specs - but don't know for sure?

    Syntace X-12 System 142x12mm Axle

Do you need measurements from my stock axle?

I think those have a tappered face , not flat

The 142 Maxle seems to be made for a much wider frame build

I recently did a trip out to Oregon to ride an left my axle in my garage. Found one of these at a local shop: DT Swiss RWS X-12 Alloy | Chain Reaction Cycles

Maxle and these are longer than the Canfield stock axle so I bought some washers at the hardware store to go between head of axle and frame. Threads were correct and it worked for the trip. I would sell the DT Axle I have if you are interested, it didn't look elegant with the washers but it worked.

I do believe it is the Maxle threads but that its tough to find something that is as short as the stock axle. I did a road trip once and forgot the axle at home (pulled wheels to put bike in back of car vs driving the poorer mileage truck) and ended up buying a DT axle that had proper thread pitch and length. Axle was about a centimeter too long so I went to hardware store and bought a bunch of washers to act as spacers on the lever side of the axle. It worked great but was not aesthetically pleasing. Canfields had spares but it would have taken more days to get to me than I had at location.

Sorry I missed this post a few weeks back. The 2012 and 2013 The Ones can use a 135x12 Maxle as a replacement for the stock axle for our 142x12 rears.

Thanks KVT, measuring length and thread pitch of my axle I came to the right conclusion.

Now I don't want a flip lever axle, and I can't find any other 135x12 Maxle-like axle... I'm in Europe so I'll ask Steffen if he stock any, but do you know any other axle that would work?

As of now, the Maxle is the only other axle I know of as we based the thread pitch off the Maxle. However, when Riots arrive later this summer, our Riot axles will retro fit back to the 2012 and 2013 The One.
