Bike brand is the more important issue if it's anything that needs manufacturer's parts. If it's things like fork service or general tune ups then there's all sorts of shops that can handle that.

    The Bike Doctor
    West Point Cycles
    Simon's Bike Shop
    Bicycle Sports Pacific
    Cambie Cycles
    Dizzy Cycles (west 4th)
    Reckless the Bike Shop

I don't think anyone sells Ventana, I can't recall seeing any in stores.

Anyway, when I lived in Vancouver my LBS was Westpoint, initially the Kerrisdale store, but I changed to the store on W.10th once Tim moved over there.

Yup, its Mighty Riders on Broadway, block east of MEC. You'll get one of the town's most experience mechanic working on your bike. In most the other shops, you roll the dice - you could get an experienced wrench or they could give it to the 17 year old who works on sundays. Many of the experienced mtb mechanics left the local bike shops in past year. Some left the biz, some moved out of town, some now work at Marzocchi. Mighty specializes in less common brands like Gunnar, Surly, Spot etc and would have zero problems with your Ventana. I've had a lot of local shops work on bikes for me, but Ed at Mighty is tops in my book.
