    RM Element/ETSX Geometry

I currently own an '03 ETSX and I'm considering an '04 Element. I was looking at the '03 and '04 ETSX geometries and I noticed they are different (trying to compare it to the Element geometry). The '03 ETSX TT length is 600mm and the '04 TT length is 595mm. Did RM change the way it measures frames between '03 and '04?

I'm torn between buying a 19" or a 20" Element. I have a 19" ETSX and it feels a little sluggish with a 130mm stem. I used to ride a 20.5" NRS and it felt a little long. Any one have any sizing advice?

I think I just answered my big question: if the '03 ETSX has a shorter top tube than the '04 Element - the 19" Element is definitely out.

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
I would say that the Element does have a shorter than average top tube but personally, i much prefer that for climbing which is why I own one so if you want it longer, you are probably right. I am 6'2" and ride a 19" with a 120mm stem and a riser bar and the fit is absolutely spot-on "for me".

    cheers

    seat/head tube angle differences

The '03 ESTX had a 70 / 72.5 head/seat tube angle and the '04 / '05 ETSX went to 70.5 / 73.5 head/seat tube angles, I suspect that's where the extra 5mm of top tube length went in '04. Too bad, I have an '04 ETSX70 and I wouldn't mind that extra 5mm of TT length. I have a 19" frame with a 100mm stem, and I like the handling speed the 100mm stem gives but a 105-110mm stem would feel better for climbing.

I ride a 19.5" Vertex hardtail and that extra frame size is just right. I've always wondered why the hardtails and the FS bikes had different sizing increments.
