    Paging balfa belair riders

I have searched the boards and know there are a few of you out there (ctrider) - will the new cranks/bb with the outboard bearings interfere with the swingarm? Do any of you guys have this setup?

    Thanks!!

I haven't owned a Belair in a while, although I'd actually like to re-aquire one!

I think you'd be good to go. But why not just find an pair of older XT hollowtechs and run those?? that is the crankset that came stock on my 2003 Belair (if only I had gotten a Long instead of the regular frame).

I originally posted this in 2004 - so am shocked to see a reply. Around that time I was looking to get a new "all mountain" bike and had already bought some Deus X-type cranks - I ended up getting a Heckler and have absolutely no regrets. Its too bad balfa is done - they made some cool stuff- the 2-step was a vpp style linkage before santa cruz ran with it and made it famous.

Yup - I am actually on the hunt for a used 2Step frame right now as a matter of fact.

just as a response to this 3+ year old question, i am running an lx crankset with the outboard bearing bb's with no issues. front derailleur setup/placement was not the easiest, and there is not much clearance between the derailleur cage and and the knobs on my 2.1" tire.
