    Dekerf hardtail sizing

    Hi,

I was wondering if there were any Dekerf riders out there around 5ft 7 that could tell me what size frames they ride.

I'm looking to get an order in for an SST, but I am unsure if I should get a 16" or a 17.5" frame.

I usually ride a 16", but Dekerf top tube lengths seem to be quite short.

My nearest Dekerf dealer is a plane ride away, so I can't just go and have a sit on one.

    Thanks for looking

    Hi Robert,

    Yeah, 5ft 7 is 173cm.

My Kona Unit is a 16" with a 22.5" eff top tube and my Potts is also a 16" with a 23" eff top tube.

I previously had a Litespeed Obed which was also a 16" with a 22.5 eff top tube.

I've found that a 90mm stem is comfy on the bikes with the 22.5" top tube, but run an 80mm with a 23" top tube.

I like to have a lot of standover which is why I usually go for a 16" frame.

    Thanks, Andy

    Hi Robert,

No, it's going to have 26" wheels.

I've just sorted out a 16" SST frame, but with a a 22.5" top tube, which will be spot on.

Chris is a great guy and he's going to build me up a 16" frame with a bit more length.

    Hi Andy,

Chris makes great bikes. I got 5 of them

The Unit is a 29ner with a 22.4 TT and usually you take a 26" 1" bigger for equal stand over. If you keep this in mind, DK does long TT, longer than most other Manufactures.

But you already sorted thing out

Wish you a lot of fun with the DK and would be happy to see some pictures!

I should have it by the end of July, so I'll get some pics up then

I was really torn between which frame size to get, but a 16" with a 410mm Thomson post, it will give me just over 130mm of post in the frame; with approx 25 - 30mm below the seat tube / top tube junction.
