The "Who wants to ride?" thread

Thought this might be worth trying out. Here's how it works - looking for a ride buddy? Post here.

Tonight - 8/21/2011 I'm looking for a ride in the Santa Monica area. Probably climb Sullivan Canyon or fireroad then descend the ridge. Anyone want to play? Looking to start about 515 or 530.

    Cheers

    Rob

Don't worry about keeping up. Just ride. You wouldn't want anyone to slow down for you or speed up to keep up with you, right?

Ride at your own pace and meet up at junctions or prearranged locations along the trail...

Usually a few hikers and mtbrs. Pretty quiet overall. I do it a lot around 5-6 and generally run into a few people ont he way. Best part is descending the ridge as the sun is setting.

We don't do Chumash as most of us have dh bikes so we shuttle to the rocky peak exit off the 118 in simi valley. We will meet at the bike shack on santa Susanna pass road and then shuttle from there. Hummingbird starts about a mile climb from the exit of the freeway. It is a technical and fun trail with a few drops if you are into that. Check some videos on YouTube. You'll like that trail.

Yup, thats one of my frequent spots too . . . with any luck I will be there this weekend too, but tomorrow in the afternoon (assuming that everything goes together smoothly and I don't break anything else ). I need a good spot to bed in my new brakes

Sunday morning for sure . . . just not sure where.

Overall, I think this thread is a great idea . . . but perhaps it could be organized a little more effectively by area. For example, maybe we could have a thread for "Santa Monica Mountains" and another for "Orange County", etc. etc. etc. (Obviously I don't know all the major regions other than SM Mtns and the OC )

Looking for riders in Tehachapi, Rosamond, Lancaster. In Tehachapi, rides from Meadow Brook Park along the RR tracks down to the loop, or other routes? Plan on riding early this Sunday AM. When things cool down a bit this fall, looking for rides up by Kernville - Kern Canyon, Keysville, JO, Plunge, Whisky Flats, etc.

For sure. I've ridden there quite a bit this year. Taking a break from it for a while. Besides, the last time I was there 3 weeks ago it was super dry/loose, and a majority of the turns had breaking bumps in them. Hopefully things tighten up a bit this fall there.

I'm thinking about riding the San Juan Trail, from the bottom, on Thursday or Friday afternoon. Anyone interested?

Also: Dr. Impy- maybe you could make this a "stickie"?

You'll be bored on backbone. You and Yeggsfab need to shuttle Jedi a few times.

Jedi parallels sullivan ridge fire road. Its the closest thing to a DH run in the area. Berms, a few jumps, etc. Short but fun . . .

Not that I'm aware of. The Jedi/Hulda crooks trail on Geoladders is different than this. It basically parallels the Sullivan Ridge fire road.

Shuttle!?! You gotta earn those descents, man!

I plan to be in that area this weekend, but I don't want to shuttle anything. I need to get my climbing lungs back.

I'm only kidding . . . I'm in terrible shape right now and struggle on the climbs even with a granny gear. As a wise rider recently pointed out . . . every turn of the crank makes is a step in the right direction.

I think Sullivan ridge is ~ 4 miles. Not sure on that though. One possibility that I have never done is to ride sullivan up to J-Drop, head into the canyon, ride the canyon out to mulholland and then hit Jedi back down. That might be kinda fun . . . especially if we throw bent arrow into the mix up top.

im down for a ride this weekend. I usually go in the mornings while the fog is still out. I try to avoid the sun as much as possible. I got too dark this summer. DH is fun but I also like to work my way up. its feels rewarding when you get to the top then descend down.

Sounds good to me except for that fog part . . . . I don't usually get out until around 8:30 - 9:00ish.

I can hold off until 830. The morning fog isnt that bad it just blocks out most of the sun. it usually clears up about 10.

I live in Lake Elsinore: between Riverside and Temecula
I'd like to do a Big Bear trip before it gets cold too.
