You talking about that low hanging branch?

Everyone at least "almost" hits their head on that thing. You gotta be a contortionist to miss that thing w/o getting off the bike.

That thing had gotten me TWICE... even knowing its there. Takes the "flow" out of that turn, but now I stop and walk / straddle the bike through.

Considering that it (could be) a safety hazard if someone didn't know it was there, would it be appropriate for some "trail maintenance" there?

I'm not one for sanitizing trails, or unauthorized work . . . but that branch is certainly a problem.

Edit: and the last time I rode through there, I ducked it without stopping

I'm doing some diligent trail maintenance with my forehead every time I ride that trail.

^^ What time are you looking to start? Normally I could help out, but a friend is coming from out of town, and our plans are up in the air...

You might want to post this up in the general Socal forum so that more people see it, and you could cross-post it on STR (socaltrailriders.com). Good luck! Conditions should be good after the rain.

All that talk about "Bent Arrow-Broken Arrow-Car Wreck" has me yearning for a ride through there. Think I'm gonna hit it up in the morning with a Caballero/Mulholland/Bent Arrow/Caballero run.

I am visiting and will love to ride with more people that know the trails.
I am an intermediate rider not fast at all at the moment I was told to go check Aliso-Wood Canyon, Whats the difference between Aliso and Laguna Coast?
Since that will actually be closer to me after that and if times permit I might ride El Morro on Sunday.

At what time are you planning to ride on Saturday?

^^ Big Laguna is in San Diego County. Aliso and Laguna Coast are similar. Aliso is more crowded, but easier to find your way around. If you go you should drop Rock-it, it's a fun intermediate trail, as is Lynx. Laguna Coast/El Moro is bigger with more s/t, but you really need a guide to put it together (although a good short loop would be to start at the Nix Center and take Stagecoach east-Serrano-Camarillo-Stagecoach). I'd help but I'm out of town this weekend.

I cant comment on the other trails since have not been to those.

I was gonna start around 10:00AM and ride til i get exhausted.

I ended up riding Aliso-Wood yesterday, started at around 9:00 climbed all the way to Cholla, on my way up I meet a really nice guy named Scott that was a great guide we came down Rock-It first then he left and I went back up and did Lynx the second time around then went backup again via Cholla to go down Car Wreck the third time around I have to say what a great experience that was 700 ft down in less than 3/4 of a mile :-)
Hopefully tomorrow I get to ride El Morro.
Any suggestions as which trails to ride are welcome.

Wow can't believe this thread is still alive. Well, I've been in the 'stan since last year, but I'll be home late September and I'll be looking for some rides. I've heard Sullivan Canyon is awesome now. Any other new trails I should check out?

    Cheers

Sully is getting better for sure. My local evening loop is up sully ridge and down the canyon, riding from home in Santa Monica. I usually go on Wednesday evenings.

Not sure of any "new" trails . . .

I think the single track around Sully is definitely more developed than a year ago.

    Agreed.

It is very fun actually. And, now most of the PO has died back, so it makes is a bit more "relaxing", not trying to dodge it.

See, and all those folks that thought Sully Cyn was ruined when the GAS Co. came through? Its just the latest incarnation of the canyon.

Can anyone tell me where the trail head begins? how far down Skyline dr. and where to park is what I'm after.

I don't know if I got the engine for this, but there's only one way to find out.

Im in Laguna Hills and I love riding wood canyon, whiting ranch, and up by cooks corner/Santiago canyon, let me know if you like to ride in the area! I'd love to meet some new riding buddies and/or tag along! Thanks and have fun out there!

Nice, last time I went on it there were some jumps thrown in here and there, but a few times before the jumps weren't there, so maybe someone took them out, or added some, should be fairly the same though.

    Hey y'all.

Doing early Sat AM Mugu/Sycamore. 6:30 start. No, I won't be bringing donuts

Start at beach/up Sycamore/stay on pavement go up Ranch Ctr/down Wood Cyn/up Guadalasco/down Backbone

*I'm flexible on route except going up to the valley side of Sycamore Fire Road and Hell Hill (I looked at Hell Hill once, laughed, and turned around)
*I'm a slow climber and have no shame in walking when I feel like it. Will likely walk a lot of those switchbacks at the end of Guadalasco. Also have no problem at all with people going well ahead, OR waiting for others. Prefer, "everyone ride whatever pace you want" rides whether you are advanced or slow like myself.

    Will check PMs later tonight.

PS: 007 glad to see you're riding again and surgery went well!
    peace
