Hmm no idea where any of that is. I've never ridden either Sullivan. Is it mostly singletrack?

Yes and no. The ridge is a fire road, though there is single track that parallels much of it called Jedi. Jedi is a fun little track with some nice features built into it. I suppose you COULD ride up it, but man it would not be fun.
The canyon USED to be an unkept fire road that was actually a lot of fun and there was some great single track built that paralleled it. With the recen repairs by the gas company, the main track is like a freeway now an pretty uninteresting, but the side tracks are still there.

You'll see some singletrack exits here and there, which is what 007 is talking about.

I'd like to do Noble tomorrow. Ride up from Pine Creek lot to the saddle, depending on snow keep climbing.
Weather report indicates snow tonight, 1-3 inches. Should be beautiful up there.
Planning on leaving SD in the early morn with lots of coffee and some donuts. Bring emergency blankets and layers for cold weather riding.

Ugghh. Got the text from AH. May have to bow out of this one, still deciding. I think it may be a bit much for me after a long period of inactvivity due to back injury. I might do a shorter ride with a co-worker in S.M. mountains. I'll let ya'll know

Knowing that you're coming off a BACK injury, you may want to take it easy . . . this trail has some chop in the DH that might be a bit rough for ya. I'm thinking of heading out for something more tame on Sunday with my nephew if you're interested. Not sure where we'll be heading though.

Ya, southern California a big place. What city/town will you be visiting or working in?
Night riding is excellent in the relatively mild SoCal winters, so post up if that might be a possibility (during the week) as well.

Anyone up for a ride around West LA County/Ventura County in the morning of February 18th? I'm returning to singletrack for the first time in a year after a series of surgeries so I won't be blazing holes in the sky, but I have tried 15 miles on the road without any trouble.

We'll be doing a MTB ride down the Bell View Trail between Coto de Caza and Dove Canyon to Caspers Park this Sunday leaving at 08:30 from
the waterfalls/fountains at Plano Trabuco and Dove Canyon Drive. Plenty of parking there too.
It will be about a 20 mile out and back depending on what we do when we get to Caspers. Consisting of mostly fire road, considered a beginner to
intermediate mtb trail with nothing real difficult just some wash outs from the last rain and one steep climb to the first gate.
This route is part of the 50 mile/Rawanda ride done in April every year. We'll be on the mtb tandem and Pat and Maria on theirs with
a tag behind with their son. We can do a short singletrack we call the roller coaster on the return.
Bring your camel back and a snack to eat at Caspers.
Some info links with a map of the trail:

Looking for riding partners/groups to do Santa Monica Mountains on weekday evenings (after 5:30ish) and other rides on weekends. Would like to get on some single track and learn the trails around SM. I was an intermediate rider in Michigan before moving to LA and not riding for about 5 years. Just picked up a Norco full suss and a looking to get out and ride.

Imagine that . . . I TOO am a former Michigander (Detroit 'burbs) and now live in Santa Monica. I ride the SM's regularly, including evenings. Do you have lights? Where exactly are you?

Saturday I will be riding somewhere in San Diego County. Probably out toward Pine Valley/Lake Morena but I'm not dead set on that.
I'm pretty novice on the MTB, but I love to ride. Anyone going for a ride Saturday that wouldn't mind a tag along?
I'm very self sufficient and consider myself well prepared. I'm a very experienced backwoods hiker so I tend to be a bit of a boyscout when it come to preparedness but not to excess...

I park at Mid Reseda (Caballero Canyon Trail) and climb up. Its a fairly hard climb. The downhill is actually fairly technical if you take it down the same way, or if you really want technical you can take Hectic down.
Here is the trailhead: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=34.14...8&z=20&iwloc=A
PM me. I ride on either Saturday or Sundays there

Caballero is a fun climb...honestly I think it's the easiest way up to Mullholland from that spot. I rode up the street once. Once. That was harder, I thought.
What time do you usually start?

Saturday this weekend doesn't work for me due to some bike-related stuff but for 18+ miles of mostly singletrack I'd recommend BLT and Noble Canyon - maybe something like the Tour de Noble or similar on mountainbikebill.com if you hit BLT be sure to ride the Gatos Ravine spur.

I barely saw a hiker. However when I got to that lil water crossing I came across tons of people on bikes. The recreational cruiser, no helmet wearing kind from the RV park. Took me a few minutes to get through that area.
