warfinger, youre in the wrong thread!

so you're not entirely turned away from this forum:

11,000 hkd = 1400 USD (I was curious so I looked it up with google)

    and

i googled the bike under the 'shopping' ability. this model goes for 1400 online, new.
if everything is stock and new it doesnt seem to be too crazy price.

when asking for advice its best to put in your own time first. others will be more apt to pay attention to you

    happy riding!

Late notice: There's an STR ride starting at Blackstar tomorrow morning. Most people (I think) are going up B*, down TLD/Skyline, up Skyline, across the Main Divide, and down Motorway--36miles, 6200 climbing.

Most people are starting at 7, but my g/f and I are starting at 8. Should be "fun"!

*** Now we're starting at 10:30 (letting the drizzle stop), and the g/f is "just" going over to Skyline and back.

Friends don't let friends ride e-"bikes" on dirt.

I always try to get a few buddies (and trucks) together so we can leave 2+ trucks at the bottom that way we can do several runs. I can fit 5 riders/bikes in my Tacoma. Hit me up on here or text me 626-975-6959 (since I don't have 10 posts yet). I live down the street from turnbull canyon if you wanna try that out too.

Is whiting ranch good for DH bikes? I've heard of a lot of people going...I just don't know if they went on DH bikes.

MTT? That stands for Monroe truck trail right? Lower Monroe road or whatever it's called? That one is a longer and more mellow ride than the one I usually go to. The one I go to is like half way up and you ride on a road and you turn off of it and go up a grass hill. At the top there is a concrete platform and that's where the trail beings. It's shorter but more intense with some pretty big jumps throughout the first section and with some nice switch backs at the end.

Edit: so yeah you go up Glendora mountain road and park in front of the Glendora ridge mtwy entrance. You follow Glendora ridge for a bit and on the left hand side you'll see a grass hill, so just head up that and you'll see the concrete pad if you're interested in going, let's get a group together!

Ah ok cool. Yeah I've ridden monroe truck trail, but wasn't sure if that was the same. Definitely down to hit up the other trail sometime! I'll have to find some time in the next few weeks to head out there.

Enduro mtn bike, YES... Enduro motorcycle, NO (illegal). For Enduro mtn bikers, it's a shuttle run. Too steep and long of a climb for an Enduro mtn bike, IMO. Unless you are into pushing your bike uphill for miles... or, you are in professional athletic condition.

Anyone available tomorrow to escort a loop through Whiting / The Luge? Pretty sure I've done both of these years ago, just nothing lately and don't want to get lost or end up doing some 50 mile suffer fest.

Was thinking about heading out to Cheseboro or possibly Space mountain this weekend if you are interested.
Alcohol may lead nowhere, but it sure is the scenic route!

There's a ride going out to Space Mountain this Saturday morning, probably hit dirt around 9:30. So far I've got myself, PerfectZero, QuicksilverZ and cfrea going. Anyone else interested, send me a PM before Saturday.

    Mt. Wilson

Thinking about riding up Lower Sam Merrill, on over to the fireroad, and up to Wilson from there. Maybe stop at inspiration point on the way, Then either return through Middle Sam Merril or down Mt Wilson Trail into Sierra Madre. Anyhow, anybody interested in rolling?

I'm gonna be shuttling mt. wilson/mt. lowe tomorrow. Starting around 9:30am. Definitely gonna be hitting up inspiration point for a cool off. Don't know the trail names too well but last time we hit mt. lowe, mt. disappointment, sunset trail and parts of sam merril. If you want we could somehow get in touch and see if we cross paths.

    Visiting from Houston

    Hi all,
I am going to be in LA for the weekend and none of the friends I know that live there ride regularly. I usually ride around 100+ miles a week, and race in the cat2 mtb races (finishing in the mid pack) but I train in the flat lands of Houston.

I would like to ride some real mountain bike trails (for once).

I will bring my pedals/shoes/helmet/gear just in case someone replies. I'll be staying at my friends place in Marina Del Rey, and am not sure about the logistics of getting to/from the trails, but I figured I would at least try to see if anyone on here would be willing to take me on a cool trail.

Also: if anyone knows of a bike shop that rents decent bikes, please let me know and I will reserve one

    ::Edit::
I checked out the website Shuttle-Run.com and that looks like the Saturday shuttle is about 10miles away from where I am staying and my friend said he will take me to the shuttle. Going to rent a bike from "the path" bike shop located in Tustin. Cant wait!

I think the path rents santa cruz bikes so you are sure to get a nice rental bike. Hey sign up for the 630am shuttle to mt wilson this saturday. It's a bit early but we want to get done before noon if possible. Intermediate riders here.

Nice, well if you change your mind on location there's some nice riding down in Orange County as well (the Path is in OC). While I'm not 100% up to speed on LA's scene, I'd imagine you're probably limited to where your friend can drive you, which makes that shuttle that much more attractive.

As it's a local site you might not know about it, but you can check out a number of local rides on:
    Geoladders -- Mountain Biking Routes

Or there is a googlemap of many local/regional trail heads:
TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a tiny URL

Ok! I RSVP'd for the 630 Shuttle, hope I can manage to keep up with you all on the climbs though. I think I am going to try rent a Epic 29 Expert, or the Comp.

Hi! I'm from Ontario, Canada, and I'm going to be in Palm Springs from March 14 to March 22, and will have 2 or 3 opportunities to go out riding, if anyone wants to show me around. I haven't been able to hit the trails since October, but have been commuting through what has been a pretty mild and dry winter for us. I should be able to keep up with most people from a cardiovascular point of view, technical skills... maybe not as much. I really look forward to hearing from some people!

You definitely want to check out Palm Canyon Epic while you are in town.
You can get the trail info at MTB Bill's website.

    The Palm Canyon Epic

Post a thread on the SoCal board once you figure out which days you are available to ride. This route does require a shuttle vehicle though.

Thanks for the great information! I'll definitely check that out. I'm really hoping that I can hook up with some folks to ride with, and possibly borrow a bike... Cash is available for a "borrowing fee" of course ... and possibly hitch a ride as well...

Planning on bringing HT 29er but can bring 6" travel 26er if the terrain truly calls for it. I don't huck or do gaps and don't normally do shuttles. I do xc, trail, or anything else where your wheels stay less than 3.5' off the ground. As far as distance - as far as you want but nothing too short - Any takers? Who knows the best trails?

Trails I used to enjoy Chumash, Pinetos, Towsley, Viper, 5 dear, G-out, but would love to try some new stuff.
If you make it to the San Gabriel Valley hit me up, I think I could fit the bill

Palm Canyon Epic: Does anyone want to ride this Friday, March 9? I have never done this before.

If not, if someone wants to join me I will be doing the Cathedral City thing, up Dunne Rd to HBV to Wild Horse and so forth.

I'll be able to ride on the 16, 17, 18 or 19th. Anybody who wants to ride, let me know.
