About 30 minutes from one of SoCal's premier singletrack rides, The Santa Ana River Trail (Unfortunately, it's probably covered in snow right now.).

We have some decent local rides as well. It's not world-class mountain biking, but there are plenty of fun trails I can ride without ever having to climb into a car. I hafta ride 3 - 5 miles of road to get to the trailheads, but that's free training miles .

A caffeinated night ride sounds cool. Since I just sent my rear shock in to Push I won't be riding for a bit. I just might stop by, grab a cup of dark roast and talk bikes. When do you work there?

I ride 3 times a week. This weekend I'm not riding. Next weekend I will ride either in Santa Barbara back country or Santa Monica mountains- Moorpark to Pt Magu-65 miles!
Tuesday & Thursday nights I sometimes hit Cooks to Santiago to Luge and back otherwise I'm riding Verdugos and San Gabriels. Let me know if you want to ride. Yes I drive a lot!

    Later.

We ride the loop Saturdays at 7:30 am.

I'm usually on Northridge / Sycamore / Telegraph 2 or 3 times during the week.
I try for noon or 4pm.

I'm a consistent rider (not fast on the uphills)

Does Northridge eventually get to 4 corners?

I ride three places normally - Santiago Oaks - Morro Canyon - and Aliso Viejo. Sometimes hit the Harding Truck trail, but haven't been out to those mountains in awhile.

Northridgwe does hit Four Corners. If you are setting at the shelter/bench facing east look to your left where the power poles are. There is a sweet short downhill singletrack that ends the northridge trail and leads to four corners. Sycamore canyon also hits Northridge which is not far from that downhill singletrack that leads to Four Corners. I dont think that downhill singletrack has an official name. You also need to try Raptor Ridge that starts at four corners it takes you to the horse center, which is telegraph that will lead you back up again to Four Corners, you can also catch Southridge there .

I believe this saturday is trail clean up day, where they will work on that trail . Show up if you want to check out that trail.
I also ride in Chino Hills around noon to four often. I'm on the red Specialized.

Thanks for the trail info. I took Northridge to Sycamore last week. That's one nasty climb before hitting Sycamore. I'm going this afternoon around 3:30 and will try to take Northridge to 4 Corners, just hope the legs hold out.
I'm the one on the silver Epic.

Next Saturday, June 5th, is when we are working on the trails. Come out and volunteer some time on the trails you ride. We need all the help we can get. RSVP to volunteers@sharemtb.com. Work until 1pm, lunch and shirt provided.

FWIW, I live in Anaheim Hills and ride Oaks, Deer Canyon et al most frequently and Silverado, Aliso, LCWP/El Moro, SJT and many others on occassion.

Come out and join us on our Wed night challenge ride. Next Wed at 6PM at the school on Serrano. We work one obstacle all night.

I live in Upland also, and I probably see you doing the loop at Claremont. If you see a guy on a red Epic with a white Noleen fork, say hi. What time do you usually ride?

Iím usually riding a plain grey rigid Kona Unit singlespeed. I donít have a usual time. My work schedule is different from day to day, so I squeeze in bike time whenever possible. I probably ride late afternoon, or early morning (6:00 AM) more often than midday.

I noticed you have a serious (whatever that means) ride.

I usually ride there in the mornings after work, generally somewhere between 8:30 and 11:00. I don't have a set day either as my schedule varies, and if I'm up all night at work I may sleep in the morning and ride late afternoon. I also drive a gray Toyota 4WD P/U with badly oxidized paint and a fire sticker on the back window, if you see it in the parking lot.

Iíll look for ya up there. I drive a weird Saturn wagon, white w/dark tinted windows, sport wheels. Hard to miss.

I noticed the ride post from mtbski for tomorrow. I donít have that much time. I will probably be up at the Wilderness Park around 7 AM.

I ride up in the Santa Monicas and down in Palos Verdes.

If you spot a rider on a grey Catamount with some Jones H-bars, that'll be me.

    Say hello!

Palos Verdes Trails: Del Cerro / Portuguese Bend

    Quote Originally Posted by sitchcarver

The trails in Palos Verdes start at Del Cerro Park, which is where Crenshaw Blvd comes to a dead end up in the residential area.

Park your car at the cul-de-sac and the trail head is right there, you can's miss it.

From there, you take the trails down to the Portuguese Bend area and it's a snaking fireroad with lots of small single track off shoot trails. This is one of my favorite rides in SoCal. Not technically challenging, but very picturesque and leisurely. A great after work ride.

Here is a trail map by one of the South Bay Mountain Biking Club members:
