where to stay in Long Beach?

I'm going to be in the LB area over thanksgiving and was wondering where a "car-less" visitor might stay. I have some family in the belmont shore area, so i'd like to be some what close???. There is a Best Western near the convention center that is within my price range. Is that a decent area for foot travel?

Not really Bike related, but i trust fellow bikers input more than anyone else.

    Thanks,
    Justin

Ya know on second thought, it's really not that important to be nearby the fam. I'd rather be in a good place for foot travel/eating/drinking and other vistor stuff.

The Best Western by the Convention Center is pretty close to The Pike and Pine Street. I would go for it. It doesn't take too much time to walk to those areas. May be 15 mins or less.

The only other cool walking area would be 2nd St on Belmont Shore and it sounds like your family is there.

Looks like it might be the Hyatt after all, which is only closer to the Pike and Pine St anyhow.

Long Beach is a great area, but the surrounding area can get very shady.

If you do not know where you are going, do not go walking there.

If you stay on Pine between the Ocean and Broadway, you'll be fine.

if you stay downtown, and get burned out on pine and the pike (which is very likely to happen) you can catch the 'passport' bus. it cost .90 and will give you a lift to the belmont shore area of 2nd street. lots of shops, bars and restaurants down here to have fun at.

I live in Belmont, personally anything there along Ocean should do just fine ..and it's all relatively close to fun night life... go to 2nd Street Belmont and enjoy all the great food

If you can make the trip, the Dainese D-Store is just about 15 miles southbound on PCH, Left on Superior, about a mile up on the left.
