My heavy Castelli arm warmers. They're so warm I sweat just thinking about them.

If it's really cold and/or wet it'll be the lightweight REI Mistral soft shell....

I have a super lightweight vest

that has a windblock front and a mesh back that I pack. It takes up practically no room at all in the pack.

In fact, it is just like this:

    It's 7:09 California time

I stash my arm warmers in my bag. It doesn't get all that cold in So Cal. They're cheap and work great.

I usually start out a ride with this on and stash it my pack later. Mine is an older version but its insulated with an open back and if i am riding will keep me warm and dry in rain.
