the course is pretty fun, you start out in town and do a little asphalt tour and then onto some fun single track. unless they change the course this year, there is alot of time spent on some fire roads, and then up to cuyamaca area for a really sweet loop then back the way you came. you can opt to go back on the street if you want, but its more fun to just go back the way you came.

plus pie and ice cream usually at the end. big win.

Ya, that single track at the beginning is the toll road. I've done it before, but not sure if the course has been altered.

The last time I did this ride, I had to come back on the banner grade (paved road). My rear tire kept going flat...

Ya what is the course like?? Sorry map will be up in a day or two. Still waiting on whether we can use volcan preserve or not. Plane crash up there has sort of put part of the course on hold. We are using the Santa Ysabel open space preserve, the same course we have used in the past. I wanted to add an optional Volcan mountain climb to the mix for a little more suffering.

Ok. Makes sense. Hopefully, no significant rain before Nov 3. Otherwise the preserve gets soupy and we'll need an alternate route.

Try this link. I will provide a separate link for the optional Volcan Mountain climb. This route is identical to the last loop of the Julian Death March. Will be easier since you won't have 64 miles and 9,000 feet of climbing under your belt!

Here is the optional Volcan Mt. Hillclimb section. It adds about 5 miles and a wee bit more climbing!

We are getting rain in Julian today. To clear up by Wednesday so the trails should be perfect for riding on Sunday. First Male and Female up to the top of our optional Volcan Mountain climb bring home a trophy! Rides up to 28 miles in length with great scenery.
If you pre register you get a great event tech shirt. You may sign up the day of the event but shirts are optional.
Rest stops with fruit, Dudley's bread (made into PB&J sandwiches) and post ride Julian pie and ice cream along with refreshments will be served.
Based out of Frank Lane Park right in the heart of Julian. Bring the family, or SO and make a day or weekend of it!

Is it a closed course or will other mountain bikers/hikers be allowed on the trails?
